Guess who dropped by the last Sunday? My MVP, Koda! 🐾

She’s been my top supporter since day one. This quality control pro takes her job super seriously—sampling every batch with no hourly wage required. All she asks for is love.

Accompanied with full room and board, medical (yep, including dental), unlimited meals & treats, tummy rubs, butt scratches, and a full-time door butler-that’s me!

After listening to all those canine health podcasts with mom, she even insists on air travel for anything over 1 foot high.

Heat Wave Warning: Keep Your Pets Safe!

PEI is experiencing a heat wave with Humidex values reaching 37°C over the next two days. Extreme heat can pose serious risks to our animal friends, so let's ensure they stay safe and comfortable.

• Hydration is Key: Ensure your pets always have access to fresh, cool water. Keep multiple water bowls around the house.

• Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid walking or exercising your pets during peak heat hours. Early morning or late evening walks are best.

• Never Leave Pets in Cars: Temperatures inside a parked vehicle can soar quickly, even with windows cracked. Never leave your pets unattended in a vehicle.

• Create a Cool Environment: Keep your pets indoors in a cool, shaded area. Use fans or air conditioning if available.

• Cool Treats: Offer frozen treats or ice cubes to help them stay cool.

• Watch for Signs of Heat Stress: Symptoms include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and vomiting. If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cooler place and contact your vet immediately.

• Paw Protection: Hot pavement can burn your pet’s paws. Test the surface with the inside of your wrist before walks.

➡️ Special Tips for Owners of Brachycephalic (Short-Nosed) Dogs:

• Extra Vigilance: Breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and French Bulldogs are more susceptible to heat stroke. Keep a close eye on them.

• Shorter Walks: Keep walks brief and in shaded areas. Avoid any strenuous activity.

• Monitor Breathing: These breeds can struggle with breathing in hot, humid weather. Watch for labored breathing and seek immediate veterinary care if needed.

• Cooling Gear: Consider using cooling vests or mats designed for dogs to help them stay cool.
