🌞🐾 Heat Wave Alert! Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾🌞
Hello Maple City Pet Parents!
With the heat wave hitting us this week, it's crucial to ensure our furry friends stay safe and cool. Here are some essential tips to protect your pets during these scorching days:
1. Hydration is Key: Always provide plenty of fresh, cool water. Pets can dehydrate quickly, so keep those water bowls filled and easily accessible.
2. Avoid Hot Pavements: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws. Walk your pets early in the morning or late in the evening when it’s cooler.
3. Never Leave Pets in Cars: Even with windows cracked, temperatures inside a car can soar in minutes. Leave your pets at home in a cool, shaded area.
4. Shade and Cool Spaces: Ensure your pets have access to shaded areas or a cool room indoors. Fans or air conditioning can help keep them comfortable.
5. Watch for Signs of Heatstroke: Symptoms include excessive panting, drooling, restlessness, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea and collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, move your pet to a cool area and contact us immediately.
6. Limit Exercise: Avoid strenuous activities during peak heat. Keep playtime short and sweet to prevent overheating.
