Ranitomeya variabilis “Borja Ridge”
If you breed enough frogs eventually some weird ones will develop. The first pic is one such example. Every so often we get one that develops with a nearly solid yellow dorsum emerge from from the water. In many hundreds of these variabilis we have produced over the years this is only the 4th or 5th such example. Pretty frogs for sure. This morph as a whole is less common in the hobby as it once was which is a shame. Thanks to Mike from for taking a break from his fossil lab and photographing some frogs for me that I had been avoiding.

The forest at approximately 1000masl in the Cordillera Escallera, San Martín, Peru. An incredibly rich diversity of flora and fauna thrives within the chaotic folds of the Escallera mountains, truly a naturalists paradise.
