Ranitomeya summersi “Reticulated”
This enigmatic species is truly an elusive frog throughout its range. This morph of summersi seems to be sporadically distributed through a fairly broad swath of the lower Huallaga watershed. It is very alert and despite the bright colours in this picture it blends in quite well against natural backgrounds of nature helping the frogs essentially dissapearing before detection. Thankfully CB specimens are now generally fairly easy to obtain in most places. And yes that is a p**p that this frog left just prior to the photo being taken.

Phyllobates vitattus is a truly underrated species. Vibrant colours, great call, good disposition and they thrive communally. We will have these and a huge selection of other CB dart frogs as well as a diverse selection of terrarium plants and supplies at the upcoming CRBE next weekend September 14 and 15 at the International Centre in Mississauga.

Filmy ferns are wonderful and under represented in the terrarium hobby. The generally thrive in low light and high humidity making them ideal candidates for many terraria. Generally they grow extremely slowly so some care should be taken to ensure they don’t get over grown by more aggressive growing plants. They are definitely worth the effort and consideration.
