Ted is in Basic Good Manners. At 13 months he found a new forever home. When he first came to class he really enjoyed watching the other pups. His Guardians have been having fun training at home and he is now able to play the training games in class. Such a happy little ball of energy and enthusiasm 😊🐾.

Hi, I’m Gus! I’m about 1.5 years old (maybe a smidge younger), I am a 52lb “Border Collie x Springer Spaniel” on paper…though my foster says I am most likely not any Border Collie and probably some Retriever…I’m pure, happy-energy sunshine. I love life, I love people, and I really love other dogs. I’m a playful guy who makes instant friends, and I’m politely curious about cats. I’ve met little kids and I’m sweet with them, but I’m bouncy enough to knock tiny humans over, so sturdier kiddos are best.

I’m the adventure buddy you’ve been waiting for: walks, hikes, fetch (I’m interested but not obsessive), splashy water days are awesome! Car rides…I’m great. I’ve got that high-energy, ready-to-learn brain, so training games and regular exercise will make me shine. I’m crate trained; I was a bit sad at first, but once I learned the routine I settled right in. House training is coming along nicely…I did a little “new house” marking at first (rude, I know), but I’m figuring it out with consistency and potty breaks.

I’m a joyful talker on occasion, so I’m better suited to detached living. In the right home…one that wants a happy, eager, affectionate teammate I’ll be your smiling shadow. If you’re looking for a smart, social, water-loving goofball who will make every day more fun, pick me.

An adoption fee of $500 applies for me. I am neutered, have been vaccinated with my age appropriate vaccinations, been dewormed, been given flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and will come with 30 days of free pet insurance as well as my health certificate.

Fun fact Friday.... Many so-called breeders claim livestock guardian dogs are from working lines because they were born in the barn and where was sheep constantly.. from birth. .. often the same breeders claim that registered dogs which are more expensive are show lines and unable to guard stock...
In fact in a litter of livestock guardian dogs whether they are born in a barn or in someone's living room or in a kennel facility they all have the potential to do their jobs. Whether they are in a field guarding animals or not does not mean they can't also be shown in the confirmation ring.
Whether they will be good with stock is about temperament registered breeders will test the temperament and will not place a dog that does not show the proper qualities to be a good guardian in a home where it is expected to work in verse versa they will not place a dog that is being temperament tested that has a big need to work in a home as a pet.
In fact most of the better show dogs have the attitude to work as well.

When a dog is showing and does well it means that they have proper movement and are put together properly what does that mean for working dogs that means that my dog will be able to do its job better and last longer because it is sound physically and mentally from parents grandparents great grandparents that have also been proven to be sound of health temperament and physically.
Whether you want to rescue or get a puppy and do the training yourself it's up to you however keep in mind that one gets what they pay for :)
