When you are working with your horse or "training" your horse, do you stop and think how your horse feels about the situation? We don't mean overthink and analyze and baby the horse through stuff because that's not right either.
β€œThe manoeuvres are not what is important. It is how our horse feels while he is doing the manoeuvre that is important. We must give our horses time to feel good on the inside, so that they can give us what we want on the outside, because they want to, not because they have to.” Ray Hunt
We feel it's important the horse love their job and want to do it. You need to think about many things when riding your horse right down to equipment. Does it fit right? Is it clean? Is it rubbing? Something as simple as a dirty cinch can leave sores and rub marks. It may not be a big deal to you but to your horse it could be enough to turn them off of being ridden. Be smart. Be considerate. Be patient. Be consistent. Be Gary.

We are done πŸ™Œ It's the most wonderful time of the year when you can look up into that hay loft and see it's full! It wasn't the easiest year to get the hay off the field because we had a hard time finding a window of 4 days with sun and no rain. But we did it. Despite the slight chance of rain, we took a shot. Thank you so much to everyone who helped. We could not have done it without you ❀️ Be patient. Be consistent. Be Gary.

It was a hot day the other day. After an early morning of training horses, then a bath, they all enjoyed the cooler air in the barn with a fan. Ruby was playing peek-a-boo 😊. This is where we find Ruby, in front of her fan having a snooze. Can you see Ruby?

Being soft and correct is over rated 🀣 Why not just hop on and do what it takes to get the horse going. If that means bang on them, kick, cluck, chirp, what harm is there in that? Well that can be a long and drawn out answer but the short and sweet version is really quite simple. If you start with ground work and get the horse soft where they give their chin and focus, you will have control down the road should something go south. We are not looking for heads on the ground, we are simply asking that when we take hold of the reins and apply pressure (maybe 4 oz) they will give their chin. We do not want a horse to raise his head up to the sky with their nose out. If that happens, you now have zero control. Ruby has been working hard mastering this concept. Her go to was just that, head up to the stars and tuck her butt and scoot. Her steering wasn't the greatest but if you only rode with other horses you wouldn't really notice. Take her on her own into a strange environment and it would be an interesting ride. Let's give Ruby a big πŸ™Œ for showing up, working hard even on hot days. We can't wait to see the finished product 🀠 Be patient. Be consistent. Be Ruby.

We want everyone to give a big πŸ™Œ for Ruby. She has been working so hard. When Ruby first came she was not impressed with working. She kind of had the attitude of a teenager πŸ˜†. Ruby felt she knew enough to get by but in reality she did not. There weren't any buttons, there wasn't any way to gain control if she raised her head and locked down on the bit. But with patience and repetition Ruby has knuckled down and learned to give, to be soft. She learned that it's actually a nicer ride when the rider can be quiet and soft. The next 30 days will give Ruby that foundation that she lacked. We are hoping it will also give her some independence and confidence in herself. Be patient. Be consistent. Be Gary.

Why do we put limits on ourselves? On our horses? Why do we buy into doubt? Here's the thing. Not every horse is going to rise up, shine right from the get go. Yes, some do. BUT most don't. How do we handle the ones that are going to take more time? That is all up to you. Patience and consistency will bring out your star. We have a horse here right now that we believe will shine. We might just be the only ones that see it but we see it. Why? Because we believe it's all there it's just going to take time and consistency to bring it out. Time and consisitency along with a lot of patience to teach him what he needs to know. Is he stupid? No. In fact, he's a very happy and smart horse. But he's just not putting everything together quick. But every day we see progress PLUS he's fun to ride. As we are re-learning from Savannah and Blue Thunder, we just need to remember what the dream was to begin with. We need to tune out the negative and tune back into that positive energy. We believe in Gary and his training, now more than ever. Maybe we just needed that fire to be re-ignited. You see, we too have dreams for our horses. We get very focused on client's horses and getting them where we need to but we forget about our own. Let's re-align those dreams and energies. Thank you to Savannah and Blue Thunder for the gentle reminder. Be sure to follow Blue Thunder's story here on facebook. It's an incredible story. Pictured here are Savannah and Blue Thunder as a foal. Be patient. Be consistent. Be Gary.

We are always available to check over your Continental saddle....no charge ☺️ We have had customers, in the past, who have taken their saddles to different Tack stores to be checked over for wear and tear. Unfortunately, they don't always get the story. Instead, they get someone trying to sell them a new saddle or make unneccessary changes to their Continental. When in doubt about your saddle, go to a Continental dealer. It is our job to know these saddles inside and out. If replacement parts are needed, we can get them ordered for you. It only makes sense to replace your Continental saddle parts with authentic Continental saddle parts. However, in most cases, the saddles are just fine. Quality saddles that are individually hand crafted just for you. AND THEY LAST!
