Mainland friends…. This berry far has the best local berries bar none! And they may just be the ones you are all familiar with. 😋

We are excited to announce our opening on Saturday, September 3rd for u-picking our Elliott blueberries. Bushes are loaded with no-spray berries for fresh eating and to fill your freezers for the winter months. U-pick price is $2.00 per pound. Send us a message or give us a call or text at 604-329-4006 to set up a time to come pick. We open at 9:00 AM. We look forward to seeing everyone in September!

Looking for us? I’ve procrastinated writing an update email for months… literally months.

So much has changed. Everything to be exact. You may not know but we have moved. It was not a decision we made lightly. Months of frantic work, long hours and a whole bunch of ugly crying.

BUT… finally we have landed and settled in our new home on the island. Our seeds have landed and we are finally making new roots. We are thriving amongst the ashes and I couldn’t be more grateful for that. I will send an update email in the next couple of days.

I want to thank you all for making our previous seasons fantastic. For supporting us weekly and for cheering us on. We will not be open for sale this year…. But we are working on it!

Trying to keep cool on this super hot day while I’m doing a little light w**ding. It’s not always pretty but needs to be done. The good news is we are cleaning up 7 months of solid neglect to make way for some super tasty veggies. And this hat…. Seriously. It’s a little too extravagant for the garden but it’s getting the job done… shoulders saved 🙌.

Garlic garlic everywhere…. Seriously. We are bursting at the seams… which is fantastic and stressful all at the same time.

Many of you have asked about garlic. It is coming. Last year we were excited to take pre orders BUT it created some problems on our planting end. So for this reason I am asking everyone to be super patient.

We have pulled 2/3 of the crop and it takes roughly 3 weeks to dry. Then it will be available for you all. 😉

Website is finally loaded with some pretty amazing locall produce. I never thought this day would come!

Some is from our gardens while others are from a local greenhouse. We are working together to make this happen.

Garlic is being pulled and other crops are taking off. Although we are late to the party we are still here. Head on over and check it out

The weather this past week has reminded me of one thing. Survival of the fittest. With so much going on I chose to “let it burn” with the exception of the greenhouse. There was no way I could get to it all. So I took a deep breath and only watered the greenhouse. Surprisingly EVERYTHING with the exception of a small patch potatoes survived and thrived during the heat wave… so it looks like we are carrying on!

Greenhouse is full of tomatoes, pickling cucumbers and some peppers. We have been harvesting tomatoes in small amounts over the last week…. It’s coming!

Summer and winter squashes (including pumpkins) are in the ground and adored the heat wave… same with all the melons….

Picking peas, cherries, blueberries,raspberries, flowers, cherry tomatoes, some carrots and the last of the kale. We even took a few minutes to make some fresh chamomile tea.

Every season brings its challenges. And every season is planned months in advanced. This year it’s a challenge to keep the beds w**d free but... Last year I planned some pretty fun flowers and some super tasty veggies for you all and daily we are seeing the fruits of our labour and planning.

Yesterday I took a stroll with the kiddos and picked some flowers I didn’t even realize were ready. Though we may not be “open at the moment”. We are still learning and playing so we can come back strong. Stunning ranunculus and peonies are bursting in the rows. The baby kale mix and asparagus have just slowed down. We just picked the last of the winter crops and are stringing up the tomatoes.

Every season is different, and this is no exception. Miss you all!

Even the best made plans spoil. We are late getting some pretty amazing potatoes in the ground.... but as the saying goes better late than never! 40 done.... 1,200 more to go 🤨💪👩🏻‍🌾🥔

Reason #1 I miss our weekly market. It leaves me with crazy granola ideas I actually try 😐😂

This weeks mission. Making our own super greens powder mix. I am drowning in random greens. Greens that were meant for you. Most have either bolted in last weeks heat or I missed prime picking time and are now oversized. So here I am. Dehydrating my little heart out. Beet greens, spinach, kale, sprouting broccoli and yes... even dandelion greens 🤪. Wish me luck, and rest assure... this is killing me. We will be back!

What have we been up to? So much yet so little. We are still harvesting overwintered sprouting broccoli, romain, leaf lettuce, spinach, baby kale and beets from the greenhouse. We have planted roughly 250 tomatoes, seeded peppers and much more. Transplanted literally hundreds of flowers, carrots and peas too!

BUT this is getting tough. My heart says trudge on. Plant plant plant. I want to see all those happy faces again. But my brain is literally telling me to stop. I will regret being busy. Since January we have literally had 2 emergency surgeries, 1 terminal diagnosis, 1 medical procedure 5 ER visits, 3 ambulances, over 43 home care nurse visits and way too many appointments and calls to count. We have met with 8 doctoctors and surgeons and so many others. It is truly overwhelming. There is literally so much to do everywhere. And all of this is happening while both kiddos are at home. We have stopped for some magical family moments, shared our harvest with friends and family and in some ways that seems to be enough.

So what will happen next? I have no idea! We are winging it in the fullest sense. I still have close to 300 lbs of potatoes to plant. More garlic to plant and harvest than I can shake a stick at and still more flowers to find a permanent home in the ground.

Today’s rainy day dinner was inspired by the good looking veggies still growing in the garden. So leek and potato soup it was! Fresh thyme, leeks and chives 😋. I am amazed and inspired by winter gardening. So many possibilities. My wheels are still turning and I miss you all so very much.

These beauties survived our winter! Today I took a few minutes to play outside and pick a few veggies. I’m in love with these colours and it’s a good reminder eating fresh is easy year round... but timing is key.

The sunshine literally calls my name. Though we haven’t 100% decided what this season looks like I’m eager to get planting, w**ding and seeding. We are still navigating some major health issues but we are doing what we can when we can. So today we were back at it. Tilling, making mud puddles, picking overwintered crops from the greenhouse and outside rows, transplanting cool season flowers, mixing rows and w**ding. My body is tired, my soul fulfilled, kids are covered in mud and super excited for this season whatever it may look like.
