It's Round up day...

The second annual fall roundup and pregnancy checking day is here. Weather is crisp, the Chili is warming, the beverages (leaded and unleaded) are cooling and right on cue the cattle seem to be dispersing all over the pasture, just to make it interesting. Most of the riders will start showing up in the next few hours, roundup and sorting starts at 12 and pregnancy checking at 2:30.
If you are in the area feel free to stop in, everyone is welcome. (you might just get put to work on a gate or alleyway)

Join the superhero club this Christmas.

I’ve had a lot of requests for the Sky Hound Ranch hoodies so I’m bringing them back. If you would like to purchase one, I will be accepting pre-orders until 30 Nov 2024. This should ensure they are ready by Christmas.

As pictured, they are Maroon with a tan logo on the front. Cost is $50.00 (plus shipping if applicable). I’ve attached a sizing chart to help in selecting the correct size.

Life with an english teacher.

When you live with an english teacher who taught your daughters to be word nerds you have to be on your toes all the time. My youngest called me the other day after I posted about the upcoming ROUND up and Pregnancy checking on Nov 4th.
I was advised that my Bull Codiak has already taken care of the POUND up part of my event🫢.
So anyone who thought the event was going to be a filming for a National Geographic documentary on reproduction you will be disappointed. However for those who would like to be part of the 2nd annual ROUND up and Pregnancy checking, we are two weeks away.
Everyone is welcome, please let me know if you are coming so I can plan for numbers of people. This will be a family friendly event, NO X-***ED bovine exhibitions.
For those interested in the POUND up, that will be next June when we turn the bull out with the ladies😁🤠

It's time for the 2nd annual Fall round up and Herd Pregnancy checking. Mark your calendars, Monday Nov 4th 12PM- 5PM. If you are a rider and would like to come out to move and sort cattle (or learn how to), a neighbor or friend, or friend we haven't met yet this is a fun way to spend an afternoon.
This year the Staff from the Sangudo Vet clinic will be here to do the pregnancy checking. I ask riders to arrive to be ready to ride at 1:15PM. we will bring the herd in from the north pasture, into the branding pen then will sort out the cows for pregnancy checking, sorry there will be no gender reveal ;-)
Don't worry if you don't ride, this is as much a social event as it is a working event. You can watch or if you would like to get involved there is always help needed working gates, moving cows up the alleys, or operating the squeeze. Do you just want to watch and meet some neighbors, that is also welcome.
If you would like to attend please let me know how many people will be with you and if you plan on riding or not. There will be food, fun and beverages (unleaded and fully leaded).

At morning meeting I was very clear that today was rock picking day. So far this crew has not picked up a single rock, they are just hanging around the water cooler. At least Jack is inspecting the loads and supervising the dumping onto the rock pile😂😂😂

I love the ranch victories Gunner came to the ranch in December. I don't own Gunner he belongs to a friend of mine. When he arrived he was not as "trained" as the previous owner had led him to believe. Not much was done over the winter but in Spring the owner stated building trust with Gunner and started training him from the beginning. There have been a few setbacks but this week was a triumph. For the first time he was ridden out in the pasture with a few other riders. From the day of his arrival to today Gunner has become a different horse. Trusting, calm and on his way to being a great ranch horse. Oh and did I mention this is my friends first horse.🤠

For all the riders out their we will be Moving moms and tots (cow/calf) on Mother’s Day, Sunday is Mother’s Day and yes this is a real thing- so I’ve been told😇. What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than helping move new moms and their baby’s to their new home. If you would like to join the drive to the North pasture plan on being at the Ranch between 10:00 and 10:30 to saddle up, or just stop by to meet all the new babies. I’ll have coffee on but can’t promise much more than that (still a few more calfs to go which takes up most of my time). Hope to see you there.

Rip is now under saddle🤠 I went to watch a training session with Rip today. This was only his second time with a rider on him. He said is such a nice horse and is coming along nicely.
