Yesterday was another awesome day of firsts!
I got to see this stunning mare in English Tack for the first time, Chloe got to ride her mare for the first time and I got to watch Nessie’s owner enjoy riding her horse who was a total champ!
🤠All in all a win I’d say 👍

Have you ever wanted to own a quarter horse, like the ones you remember reading about in Horse Magazines as a kid…
‘Nitro’ is a perfect example of a Foundation Quarter Horse that is talented enough to excel in multiple disciplines, just give him a job & let him do it.

He has been started, walk/jog/lope, stands tied (and in the cross ties). He loves getting a rinse and bath. Nitro will still need an advanced rider for a while as he has the basics , but is an athletic horse.

I promised a Nitro & Quincy update a while ago and here it eventually is.

Yesterday marks 90days to the day that these two boys got loaded into a trailer and off loaded into the round pen at Cristy Hill.

The Last ‘The Gang’ update

On May 9th (less than 60 days ago) we herded these horses off the trailer as they were barely halter broke.
The boys into the round pen and the girls into a paddock.
Ranging in ages from 4 to 8 years old, laying a solid foundation to build on was going to be key.
I’m happy to say that they can all now
-live in a stable
(yes they had been practicing living outside together as a herd their whole lives)
-stand tied to be bathed
-lunge
-longline
-carry a saddle/ bridle & person.
They are at different stages of their riding ,some only walking around and others loping. Honestly that’s just their age and personality shining through.

Yesterday watching four of them happily load into a trailer for a stranger just proved to me again that laying that solid foundation is worth the hours it takes.

My wish for Missy, Nani, Moe & Onyx is that their future is filled with people who live and understand this:
“Do what you do for the love of the horse”

As I walk through the barn this evening, I am greeted by happy faces and dry bodies.
We made it through a few days of CRAZY heat 🥵 and I just want to thank everyone for jumping in and doing all they could to help the horses be as comfortable as possible.
A special thank you to Stacey & Gerda Hill, you guys were amazing!

Colt Starting

It’s not “normal” for a horse to be use to seeing a human higher than them. I am getting Nitro slowly use to me being up here, while he gets use to his saddle. #kempequinetraining #coltstarting
