Hi there, my name is Zadie.
My story is a familiar one. I had found a warm spot for a quick snooze under the hood of a motor when the vehicle took off like a rocket! Usually I have time to get out, but not this time! Bumping and bouncing around under there was so scary! Once the motor finally stopped, I got out but stayed underneath the vehicle, waiting for my people to come back.
I was super curious and fearful at the same time. With a quick peek from around the tires, I could see hockey players, a parking lot, a large building that looked toasty warm. I got closer to the building windows and I could see lots of people in there. While I was watching the people eat their snacks and drooling, my family had gotten back into their vehicle. They started to drive away and I ran after them, but they just kept going.
“Come back!” I shouted. “I'm over here!” I tried to yell at them but they kept going and never looked back.
I wonder if they miss me. I wonder if they even noticed I wasn't home when they got back. I bet they think I was eaten by a coyote or something. Truth is way more cats end up like me…abandoned in unfamiliar territory than eaten by wildlife.
So there I was…cold, unsure, and completely terrified. I'd never been this scared in my life! I tried to make a plan to get back home, but I had no idea where I was and which direction to travel. My mind was frozen with fear and my feet were starting to feel that, too.
I hid from all the people leaving the building and getting into their cars until it was just an empty parking lot. I didn't ask any of them for help. I was just too scared to do anything but sit in that empty parking lot and cry tears that froze to my face.
Eventually my survival instincts kicked in and moved my feet. The next few days are just a blur. I have no idea how I found a warm little shelter, but it was nothing short of miraculous to find some cat food outside it. The shelter was obviously being used by some feral cats, so I had to be really sneaky. For about a month I would sneak in, steal food, warm up, and then hide.
I didn't know it, but people from the cat rescue were watching, waiting, and trying to guess if I was a tame cat or a wild one. Because I was so scared it was very hard to tell. Eventually I showed them I was tame by walking right into the nice warm house! Mistake!!!!
I was always an outside cat so inside was kinda scary too! But oh so cozy warm, and such good food! Rescued!!! I breathed a sigh of relief as they petted me.
Now I'm living as an inside cat in a foster home. I will be adopted as an inside only cat. I still get scared of new inside things. I also get scared of new places. This whole experience has left me with fear that may never leave me. It has left a scar that is every bit as painful as one from an injury. The family that adopts me will be getting a great cat! I'm soft, love to be petted, very friendly, purr like crazy, and I'm great with other animals, but they will need to understand that this experience has damaged me and it takes time to heal. I sure do hope they'll be nice.

I will need a loving, patient home that will work with me at my pace to become more confident with indoor sounds, etc.

I come fully vetted AND if you adopt me, you save two cats - me, and the kitty who takes my place in my foster home! I am available for adoption through Furever Friends Cat Rescue.

Huge update!!!

I’m reopening my pet sitting! With all the loss I’ve had this past year and especially the past month, I will be taking January to take a step back and regroup. I also will be going away for part of February for my birthday, so I’m opening my books to start booking into March! Spring break can be a busy time for people so start thinking about it and book asap!

There are some changes to my contract/policies (attached to this post but can also be found in the photos), however the biggest change with my business is that rather than going to your house…I will be welcoming your pets to mine!

Moose celebrated his 6 month birthday on Thursday, Moshi turned two on May 31st, and Bear’s 4th gotcha day is on Monday! It’s been a busy month 🥰

That being said I still get constant messages, so thought I would reiterate that I am not taking on any clients. Maybe someday I will again but not right now. I loved pet sitting and I truly do miss it but right now life just isn’t cooperating. Thanks for always thinking of me!

I’ve been getting a ton of messages lately. The answer is no, I’m not providing services at this time. I figured I would post a life update.

Max had been sick on and off all of last year. I didn’t want to add another financial responsibility while also dealing with his vet bills, so while I loved Moshi, I had decided against keeping her at the time. I knew though that my time with Max was limited, and that after he was gone, I would foster fail with Moshi. So while that isn’t official, the process has begun! I also got Max’s urn last week, and couldn’t be more pleased with his final resting place.

On Sunday, I also brought home a puppy! Moose (adopted from Funds for Furry Friends as Dusk of the Sundance litter) is 14 weeks old today and settling in quite nicely here! He and Bear are learning each other, and the cats are very slowly getting used to the puppy energy.

And lastly…Cassie is officially up for adoption through Furever Friends Cat Rescue! She is the most confident of all of us in the house (myself included lol) and will make someone very happy 💕

I wouldn’t be able to do life without these guys. After the stress of losing Max, and a covid exposure within the same week, I went into a Crohn’s flare and am just getting out of it. I wouldn’t have been able to do that while also being lonely….they don’t even know how much they help.

Just thought I would let everyone know that yesterday afternoon, I said goodbye to my best friend. Max saved my life…countless times, over the last ten years. He was with me through my miserable high school years, and through my Crohn’s diagnosis. My bed will forever feel empty without him in the corner, growling at me for moving too much. I love you forever. Thank you Winkler Vet for being there for us in the worst day of my life.

Reminder that I’m not currently pet sitting, and my phone number is for clients that I’ve worked with in the past.

Hello everyone! As I’m sure you can tell, there hasn’t been much updating on this page. I’ve put everything on hold while COVID-19 runs rampant because it’s just not safe for me to be in other peoples homes. I’m very thankful that I’m in a position to be able to do that. I won’t be responding to messages at this time, and likely won’t be updating the page unless there’s a drastic change.

Lost this evening. Friendly dog. Name Juno. If you see her let me know.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to pop in and give an update, currently I will not be accepting any boarding clients, but I can do drop ins still. Thanks :)

Hi I’m Moshi!

I am a young lady who is full of life! I was born at the Altona Greenhouse and lived there until just a short time ago. I enjoyed the attention from the customers. One day I was smelling the roses when Furever Friends Cat Rescue scooped me up. They said it was my turn to get a real home. I told them I already had a home at the greenhouse! They asked me what I was going to do when it gets cold, umm, I hadn’t really thought that far ahead. I was just sitting back and watching the flowers bloom, but I know what happens in the fall…the flowers die once it gets cold. I didn’t want that to happen to me, so I took their offer.

We went to the vet and I got a spay and a dental, but they haven’t finished with my teeth yet. Once they’re done, I’ll have none left! The volunteers said that I was probably sick as a little kitten and it gave me bad teeth and gums. They told me not to worry though, my foster mom was going to take care of me. I give her plenty of snuggles to let her known I appreciate it. I also appreciate the soft food I get now, I don’t even need teeth to eat it!

I’m waiting for my forever home. Everybody wants a kitten, and that’s one perk about me! I’m full grown, but weigh a little bit more than 5lbs - I’ll always be small like a kitten! Foster mom has two big dogs that I really want to be friends with, but because they’re so much bigger than me I’m still a little bit nervous. They’re very nice though so with some time I’m gonna be best friends with them.

I come fully vetted AND if you adopt me, you save two cats - me, and the kitty who takes my place in my foster home! I need a bit more dental work before I’m ready for adoption, but the rescue will accept pre-adoption applications at this time.

It can be nerve wracking bringing your dogs somewhere that you’re not familiar with, I get it!

My dogs are completely up to date on shots, we use heartworm preventative every year, and we used a topical treatment of Bravecto for fleas and ticks. Plus, I only take one client in my home at a time so you can be sure they aren’t being exposed to anything strange!

Just a quick reminder that I cannot accept small dogs into my home, because my two boys are huge and don’t know they’re own strength sometimes when it comes to playing

NOW is the time to book your Christmas/New Year holidays! If you’re looking to board, I only take on one client at a time, so make sure you solidify your dates by booking early!

Did you know that both my dogs were adopted from Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue Inc.? Or that I foster for Furever Friends Cat Rescue?

To celebrate the rescues that have given me my snuggly roommates, if you have adopted from either rescue OR have a foster from them I’ll be giving you a 10% discount and those proceeds will go to the rescue!

What an easy way to support the rescues that mean so much to you, by saving money yourself and having pease of mind when you go away!

09/02/2021

Many of you already know, but for those that don’t - I have an autoimmune disease, which means that my immune system is compromised. On top of that, I’m on low dose chemo which also compromises my immune system.

Because of this, and because of all the “freedom rallies” that have been happening in our communities, I will be requiring all new bookings to show proof of vaccination. As well as this, ALL in person meetings MUST have both parties wearing masks. This may seem drastic, but I need to do what I can to protect myself. Aside from pet sitting, I’m not leaving my home.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Senior dogs make some of the best companions!

Max has spent almost 150 days in the shelter; we just can't seem to find him the right retirement home! At 9 years old and 120 pounds, the shelter environment is not right for him at all...he needs a comfortable home without other dogs to go to and relax.

He isn't able to do long walks, but he loves short strolls with someone who has experience with dogs of his size. He also comes with a Welcome Home package from our friends at RuffMutts Morden, and his first month of food and joint supplements are included.
