While we are affiliated with the SPCA NL, we also work closely with other shelters, rescue groups, and agencies concerned wi

th animal welfare to provide the best level of protection for animals. Our mission is to protect and care for animals that have no other shelter. When possible, we expand our services to include animals whose owners have to relinquish them for one reason or another. We try to spay and neuter as many animals as we can to enhance their adoptability. Our aim is to educate people to treat animals with the respect and love that they deserve and to encourage people to be responsible pet owners.

Meet Smokie!

Smokie is a vey large boy with beautiful long fur. He has very large fuzzy paws and loves to lay in high places to look out the window in his room. He will be 2 in February 2025. Smokie is super friendly and does not seem to mind shelter life at all. He is just being a social butterfly here and cannot wait to get out of the intake room and explore the shelter!

Smokie will be tested with other cats after he is neutered. He never lived with dogs before. He did live with children of all ages and loved them all!

He is FVRCP vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed. He will be NEUTERED & FIV/FeLV tested this week coming.

Meet Joey!

Joey is a very handsome guy with his very dark tabby markings. He has the most distinct whisker spotting's all over his snout too. He is 3 years old. Right now he is being very chill adapting to shelter life. He is very friendly and loves to be petted.

Joey did live with another cat and he was fine. We have not dog tested him. He also lived with young children and was fine with them.

He is FVRCP vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed. He will be NEUTERED & FIV/FeLV tested this week coming.

Meet Nero!

This handsome fellow came to us a a stray seen in Long Cove area. He was seen there since a kitten but was obviously socialized by the community! He is said to be only 1 year old now. He is a very friendly boy who is coming more and more out of his shell every day. He loves to be petted by people and he is now starting to be more adventurous in the shelter.

Right now he is being tested with other cats and seems to be doing ok. We have not dog tested him or had him around children yet.

He is FVRCP vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed, NEUTERED & FIV/FeLV tested NEGATIVE!

Meet Gypsy!

Gypsy is a beautiful Long Haired Tortie who is also declawed. Gypsy is 9 years old. She is used to regular grooming so right now her fur is shorter in some places. Looks like she may have had a lion cut a while back. She is a friendly girl but she is used to being an only pet so shelter life is a bit of an adjustment for sure!

We have started to test her with cats and is doing ok so far. She may prefer to be an only pet as that is what she is used to. She did live with children and was good with them.

She is FVRCP vaccinated, dewormed & flea treated. She was SPAYED back in 2016.

Meet Coal!

This handsome boy came to our shelter recently in search of a new home. He is a very large boy and he is only 2 years old. He took a bit to warm up but now is really showing us his true colours! He is very friendly and will let you pick him up. He just seems to be the type of cat that does not like to be handled outside of love and attention (ex: vet care/vaccines/injections/nail clippings) but outside of all that he is a very sweet boy.

Right now he is being tested with other cats and seems to be doing ok. We have not dog tested him and we feel young children may be too much for him at the moment.

He is FVRCP vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed & Neutered!

Another successful year with Nori’s Notion fill the truck!

Thank you Nathan Eddy & Michaela Mahar & everyone else who was involved with this special day! We know how much Nori was loved and missed now by many people. What a great way to honour the memory of the sweetest little girl.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated items to support our shelter. Everything is just spot on and we will use every item! Also tons of cash/EMT/Cheque donations too which is very important to help with operations. Again, we cannot thank everyone enough!

Willow's ADOPTION FEE has been sponsored so she can find a new home for the Holidays!

Meet Willow!
DOB: Jan 31/2024, 10 Months Old

Willow just came to our shelter in search for a new home. She is a very pretty girl with her one blue and one brown eye. She is a Husky/Lab Mix and currently weighs 48lbs.

Willow is a very active girl and as she is still a puppy she will need someone that will help her burn off some of that energy. She is a very friendly girlie but she does need to learn some basic manners that were never taught as a younger puppy.

Willow did live with children in her previous home but please keep in mind she is currently very jumpy and play mouthy. She can be destructive when left alone so we are recommending kenneling when you are not at home. She was kennelled in her previous home and we were told she liked her kennel. We were told she is good with cats and smaller dogs. She did live with them in her home. A meet & greet would be needed if you have another dog at home!

Willow has received her first DA2PP vaccine and Interceptor Plus deworming. She was SPAYED Wednesday, Nov 27/2024.

Last year, in memory of our sweet Nori, we started Nori’s Notion to honour her life and her boundless joy by giving back to our local shelter during the holiday season. Thanks to your incredible generosity, it was a huge success, and this year, we’re thrilled to continue this tradition! 💖

Nori brought so much happiness into our lives, and even though her time with us was heartbreakingly short, her legacy lives on. She taught us the importance of spreading kindness and love, and that’s exactly what we aim to do every Christmas in her honour.

This year, Nori’s Notion is back to support the Clarenville Area SPCA! Our goal is to once again fill the box of our truck with food and supplies to help ensure the shelter is fully stocked for the cold winter months. Meet Polka,

This cat came to us from Baggs Place in Clarenville. She was seen in the area for 2 weeks but has been inside the finders home since Friday, Nov 23rd/24. Polka has not been been claimed by an owner and is now available for adoption.

She is a young adult female & is very clean & friendly. She does not seem to mind the other cats so far and she can be picked up and petted. We think she would be fine with children but has not been dog tested yet.

She has been FVRCP vaccinated, flea treated & dewormed. Polka has been SPAYED & FELV/FIV tested on Dec 11/24.

Lora still needs a forever home. Her sister Cora was adopted leaving her all alone. Now she needs family to love her.

She is a little shy at the moment and would need some extra love & cuddles from her new family. She is still only a baby still so hopefully she will adjust to any type of home over time.

Meet Claire!

Claire is a very friendly girlie and absolutely loves to get attention from people. She will almost turn herself inside out for pets and rubs. She is getting used to being around other cats here at the shelter. She loves to lay up in high places, especially the condo in room 1. Claire was in a home for a short time but had to come back through no fault of her own. During that time she got used a dog so she should be ok with a cat savy dog.

She is FVRCP vaccinated, dewormed & flea treated. She is SPAYED and FIV/FeLV tested negative.

Hello Everyone! We are looking for Dog Walkers to accompany us in the Christmas Parade this Saturday, Dec 7 @ 10am.

The Parade is starting from Riverside Elementary this year and it may be helpful to be there a few minutes early. Just look for our SPCA van in the lineup and be sure to dress warm.

This handsome man is a very friendly and very large boy. He has long beautiful fur that will need daily grooming to keep looking beautiful.

He is good with the cats here at the shelter but seems to be terrified of dogs. Maybe never lived with one before. We think he would be fine with children.

He is approximately 3 years old, FVRCP vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed & Neutered!

Meet Shania,

She came to us from Islandview in Shoal Harbour but was not claimed by an owner. The person who brought her in said she was a lovely cat as she was in their home for a couple of days.

She is very quiet & friendly cat here. We have no history on her so we have no idea what she is like with other animals yet. We will try her when she is more comfortable. When she is out of her kennel she likes to be on top of the condos taking it all in & looking out the window.

She has been FVRCP vaccinated, flea treated, dewormed. We have no idea if she is spayed at the moment but she will be spayed by us if she isn't.

Good morning from Timmy!

Timmy says good morning everyone!! He would like to let everyone know that we are closed for the weekend and will open up again Tuesday at 11am!! Happy may 24th weekend everyone!

What else to do on a rainy day then to do some arts and crafts! 🎨 The cats along with Whiskey and Echo went painting today. They all enjoy completing their craft soo much! And we must say, we have quite the artists here!😍 take a look at the video to see how they done it! All of these artists are still looking for their furever homes!
