Private Behaviour Sessions
Are you experiencing problematic behaviours such as barking, lunging at people/dogs, jumping on people, ignoring you or destructive issues in your house when you leave? Does your dog resource guard prized items, spaces or people? These are all challenges that, as a behaviour consultant, I have experience dealing with and can help you resolve. My focus is based on helping you build a strong relationship and bond with your dog to eliminate problem behaviours. With positive reinforcement training, I can help you meet target goals with your dog or puppy while finding fun activities that will meet their needs, help them feel safe and make life easier and more enjoyable. I will give you the tools, education and support needed to succeed with your best friend.

2025 Puppy Class
Puppy Essentials Class
Sunday January 26 to March 2
6 week set.
Time: 4 pm.
Cost $200
This is our basic foundations starter puppy class that includes weekly exercises to improve relationship, manners, boundary (mat) training, recalls, leash skills, common puppy issues and some fun body conditioning tricks. All the exercises focus on games style training and teaching your dog to make good choices.

Date: Tuesday January 7 to February 11 at 7 pm
Cost $200
Designed for older puppies and young dogs this is a class to help you shape your “Dream Dog”.
The Dream Dog class will be 6 week session designed for folks who want to continue their learning and grow their skills beyond beginner/puppy level. It will also be appropriate for rescue dogs new to your family that you have already begun basic training on your own. Greenacre’s puppy essentials class is not pre-required. If you have taken classes elsewhere, this class would be great for you. We will grow your skills in recalls, leash walks, and manners.

Greenacre Tricks Class ( Full )
Here is our first ever Tricks Class session
Date: January 13 to February 3 (4 weeks) at 7 pm
Cost $125
This fun class session will include step-by-step, instructions and guidance to teaching fun tricks to your dog. There will be some games and competitions with prizes held throughout the session. On week 4 you will be invited to be evaluated to receive a Greenacre novice tricks title.
This class will be taught by our own Do More With Your Dogs Certified Tricks Instructor Natasha Cameron.
Appropriate for dogs of all ages. Please ensure your dog is friendly with other dogs and people.

Another snowy day. Entertain your dog with “find it” games. Toss a small treat into another space and while your dog runs to get it hide another treat in the room. When they return cue “find it” and watch the sniffari. Tell us how you are keeping your pups busy today.

Lessons from Brie
Almost 2 years ago my husband and I decided to adopt a beautiful 7 year old retiring puppy mill Momma dog. Initially in foster she appeared comfortable with other dogs and it was assumed that with her history of being near other dogs and caring for her babies that this would continue and be her strength and personality going forward.
The 3-3-3 general guideline (while fluid and dog specific) for rescued and re-homed dogs was quite accurate with Brie.
At 3 days in she seemed to be adapting to living in a home for the first time in her life.
At 3 weeks she was settling into a routine and was quite happy.
At 3 months some other personality traits started to become apparent. She began to resource guard some toys and space from our other dog but managing her environment prevented most altercations.
Since our other dog was quite young Brie enjoyed her companionship and even played happily with her, however when our other dog reached adulthood and with hormonal changes taking place, the friendship became strained. Brie began resource guarding her humans, toys, treats and even space, forcing us to increase environmental management protocols. We installed a gate and it became routine to keep them apart including separate walks and outside time.
We have tried training exercises to create a more positive association to the younger dog but Brie still struggles to overcome the negative feelings she has for other dogs, including her now adult housemate.
Despite these issues both dogs are living happy and very fulfilled lives.
The lesson take home is that it is very important to consider the individual dog, their emotional needs, and that with a few environmental changes you can easily create harmony for all in your household.

Just after this I had to call her off mid chase of something. She left skid marks in the dirt. lol
