My name is Steph, I am the owner and head trainer at Double Dog Training & K9 Services. I have been training dogs for the last 18 years, believe it or not, I trained my first dog at the age of 10. This was because I promised my parents that if they allowed me to get another dog, I would be complete independent in caring for it, so I trained it on my own. Training and working with canines quickly b
ecame my new hobby for me, so much in fact, I trained my first “professional” working dog at the age of 12 and have been working in the industry ever since. However, I did take a few years off to pursue a career as an environmental scientist but still continued to help people who asked, friends and family through their challenges with their pups on a volunteer biases. Over the years I noticed that I had an increasing number of friends contact me about needing help with dogs they recently adopted. Realizing that I have a passion and natural soft spot for rescues, after adopting my first rescue 7 years ago, I decided to turn my passion into my career and opened Double Dog Training & K9 Services. My mission when opening Double Dog Training was to keep dogs out of shelters by keeping them in their homes through balanced training methods and behaviour modification. I have shared my life with many dogs; four of my own and many fosters. Rescues will always have a special place in my heart - the inspiration behind naming my business actually originated from the fact that I have two rescues of my own.
