Let's talk about dog communication.
Our dogs communicate in many ways. We just have to pay attention.
I was speaking with a client the other day, and they were telling me about some experiences they had with groomers.
They mentioned the second time they went to the salons location their dog didn't want to go inside, pulled back on the leash, refused to walk, etc.
This is a pretty clear sign that your dog isn't comfortable there. It doesn't always mean something negative occurred. It could just be that your dog didn't have a great experience. This could be due to other dogs barking, maybe the sound of the blow dryer, bath tubs, or shavers. Could be the energy that the groomer gave off.
Either way, it is so important to never force our dogs into a situation where they are clearly telling you they do not wish to go.
So if your dog does this at a groomers, daycare, Kennel, it may be wise to try other options.
Dogs know how they feel about things, so pay attention and support them as needed.
