Our pretty Penny also got her photos taken for fundraiser. Penny and her sister Zoey’s photos turned out so amazing too! And I just love seeing photos of all the beautiful pups from Rio x Summit’s litter. They are growing up to be fantastic dogs!

Summit and I are back from Edmonton and our last agility trial of the year. It was hugely successful!! After much trial and error, I have finally figured out how to get Summit to commit to her contacts. She did not miss a single contact all weekend!! My goal was to complete Summit’s Excellent Standard, Excellent Jumpers and Weavers, and Excellent Scent titles this year. We came really close! We got her Jumpers and Weavers title and her Scent title, and we were just one point shy of her Excellent Standard. With our contacts sorted, next year may prove to be our best yet! Next trial is in January, and I already cannot wait!!

Summit had all to herself today! Got some good practice in before her trial this weekend in Edmonton. A mother-daughter weekend getaway 😉 For now, she’s pooped!

Rundle here with your PSA! Reputable breeders of Goldens and some other breeds will get OFA eye checks done annually for their dogs by an ophthalmologist. That way they can ensure they aren’t breeding dogs prone to eye problems. Eye exams are only $50 at eye clinics. This year I decided to take Rundle too because she is starting to get up there in years, and I thought why not have peace of mind? Surprisingly, despite having no clinical symptoms Rundle had a refractory ulcer on her cornea. If left untreated, this could lead to vision problems and even blindness! Rundle went in for a minor procedure this morning to remove the ulcer on her eye. She should be fully healed in 2wks. All of this is to say, annual eye checks are wonderful and inexpensive. Thanks to this quick and easy check-up, we were able to save Rundle’s vision in the long-term. We are recommending even to our non-breeding homes to consider taking your dog to an eye-clinic annually. It may lead to improved quality of life for their future!

Biggest boops and smooches for the birthday girl 🎂 Summit celebrated her 4th birthday today! She’s our wild child, momma’s girl and we love her to bits. Can’t wait to have all kinds of adventures with her for another trip around the sun 🎉

Went for an evening walk tonight with the Rundle, Summit, and my neighbor’s dogs Zoey, and Penny (Summit’s puppy). Rundle peaking up over the other dogs just kills me. She’s such a you go first, I’ll get there dog, and Summit is all me me me me me! All such individuals and fun personalities. Great evening!

So thrilled for our first puppy Cassie who went 2/2 at her first scent trial yesterday! She was so excited to be there. You can tell she loooves working with her mama! Congratulations Cassie 🎉

I found out from my friend yesterday that there is a CKC trial every month from Jan to April!!! We might have to miss the one in Edmonton in March due to Summit going in heat, but otherwise we are going to have a lot of fun early 2025 before we breed Summit for her last litter Fall 2025.
