Did you know tomorrow is international rabies day? And what can you do to help reduce the risk of spread?

1) Take your pet for regular wellness exams. Your veterinarian will advise you on the recommended vaccination schedule to ensure proper protection.

2) Keep your pet away from wildlife, stray, or unfamiliar animals. Avoid cats and dogs that are unfamiliar to you. Alert local authorities if you encounter wildlife that appears very sickly or disoriented.

3) Vaccinate your pets—indoor pets too! Rabid animals (especially bats) have been known to enter homes and bite cats.

5) Spay and neuter your pet. By spaying or neutering your pet you reduce the number of stray animals and contact with them (especially intact females in heat) therefore reducing the number of cats and dogs that are in contact with wildlife.

👍🏻This week is poison prevention week! 👍🏻 Every year in the third week of March, a national campaign focuses on educating owners on the different poisons to pets commonly found in the home, identifying the signs and how to prevent poisoning.
