Nothing better than camping and adventuring with your favourite horses and friends. Featuring Ebene our lovely breeding stallion.
Waiting for the tractor to warm up
I was dragging this bag of chaff around sprinkling over the pasture and everyone was so curious of the big loud white bag. I tossed it into their paddock and everyone scrambled but Flo. Flo loves to play! Any chance to be with me and explore interesting things she is all game.
You can see the others getting curious but still not quite Flo level of braveness.

Filly out of our Stallion Ebene and Becketts Creek Ferari DLadyDi (Lady)
These Ferari x Kelbeck lines should yeild a nice athletic sport horse. She is as friendly as they come and put together like a dream. Both parents are 15’2.
***Preference to a home that would consider breeding her down the road atleast once to help support the breed.***
Kanuck (Risettes colt) is officially reserved. We think this will be the perfect home for him to thrive.
Super proud of Gail’s ride last night. Gail has been a bit anxious when separated from her buddies. Tonight was her first ride solo in the big arena and she was cool as a cucumber.
It’s been awhile since this blondie graced our page.
Here is my QH gelding Karl and yearling Canadian colt Jackpot grooming each other.
I had been racking my brain trying to figure out how I would keep Jackpot. Having 2 stallions on property definitely complicates things. For now I divided the herd into geldings and mares. This solved another issue I had with my 2 geldings fighting over the mares. I really want to try and keep Jackpot socialized with a herd. It’s tempting to feel the need to bubble wrap him and eliminate all risk, but that wouldn’t help build the type of stallion I want him to be. So far so good, but we will see how things evolve as Jackpot grows into himself as he matures.
I have been slowly working with Gail and building a connection with her. Canadians can sometimes get a reputation for being “stuborn”. What I have noticed about the breed compared to others is they really thrive on a bonded relationship with their trainer. Once you earn their trust and respect, the training is a piece of cake.
Flo and I are signed up for a charity show May 26th called ”Battle of the Breeds” at Ancaster Fairgrounds. It’s a speed Working Equitation event and we are on a team with 3 other Canadians. Flo and I have never done Working Equitation but we have dabbled in obstacles and western pleasure patterns through the barn we take lessons at. Here is our first attempt trotting through some of these obstacles.
Huge thanks to Lise LeBlanc for the crash course on her sport so we don’t embarrass ourselves. Heck we still might - but it’s for charity and everyone will get to see my pretty horse!
Had some fun today chasing cows with Ebene and Flo. This is the second time they’ve seen cows. The first time was 5 months ago. I haven’t found anything yet these horses can’t do!
Ebene was an absolute Saint today. We pulled him out of his paddock this morning where he is actively breeding 2 mares. Put him in a small arena with 20+ strange horses during peak breeding season and he didn’t make a peep. Straight to work for this boy and always a gentleman to handle.
Ebene over coming his water aversion.
Flo and I are back at it! Last summer the “gate” was a challenge for us. So happy with how calm she was today while trying it again. And we didn’t let any cows out on this run!
Check out Flos final parade in the big arena in front of the crowd. Canadians will do almost anything for the people they trust.
She has been in quarantine since we have returned to the farm. With 3 mares due to foal in a few weeks we couldn’t take any chances. Once she is in the clear we are on the road again. Trying out Cattle Sorting and Working Equitation.
