Life Skills for you and your Dog
A bit about me .... I have been training dogs professionally for 17+ years and I am a former owner of a Doggy Daycare, Grooming and Training Facility. I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner and prior to that I graduated from the Animal Behavior College, Professional Dog Training Program. I am a member of the APDT -Association of Professional Dog Trainers and the CAPDT -Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers. I am the Volunteer Pawd (Chapter) Leader for ElderDog Collingwood,ON as well as being a member of St. John Ambulance and the Therapy Dog Program with ‘Andy’ one of my yellow labs.
I believe that all dogs deserve the right to learn in a force free environment. Where they can thrive in acquiring behaviors using a system of Positive Reinforcement Training. You can train your dog to do anything from simple manners you can be proud of on the street to awesome head turning tricks. Simply put, We use a Clicker or Verbal marker to Signal the Desired Behavior + A Reward. We are reinforcing (with a prize!) the desirable behavior with anything that your dog finds super rewarding - Toys, treats, snuggles, a ride in the car, a sniff of a bush, a stroll in the park, praise! Dogs are very quick to catch onto this method and find it to be a lot of fun and very rewarding!!
You will build an incredibly strong bond with your dog and find that the time you spend with your dog will be so much more enjoyable for you, your dog and your whole family!!
Private Training - I work with you, developing your dog training skills so that you can be confident that your dog is succeeding in building his manners and life skills with you on the other end of the leash. Training can be as much about your dog acquiring skills as it is about you, your skills and your confidence level.
Together we will put a training plan in place so that you can help your dog acquire the life skills he needs to go out into the world and be a successful canine. We can address anything from basic obedience to problem behaviors in real life settings.

Barks constantly at windows or at other dogs/animals ?
Your dog will begin his journey into learning proper dog manners, be successful in varying locations, with different people and dogs as well as the benefit that the two of you are developing an even greater bond. $80.00/hr
Day Training - Simply put, I do some of the work for you! After we have addressed your training needs along with the behaviors we need to develop, I work with your dog when you are not there, at your property or out and about using real life settings. There are times when owners like to be there as a ‘spectator’. I then follow up with you, teach you how to maintain the behaviors your dog has learned and how to continue working with your dog successfully. It can be a bit like ‘jump starting’ the training for you. This can include video portions of the sessions so that you can reference the sessions later.
Board and Train - Your dog stays with me in my home, with my family and dogs, for an agreed upon amount of time. During this time we will work from a pre determined Training Plan that you and I have developed together according to your needs. Length of stays and cost determined by amount of training required. ( From a number of days up to 2 weeks at a time)

Puppy Primer and Play + Open play Puppy Exploration
These classes are for puppies aged 8 weeks - 20 weeks.
Puppy Primer and Play is the best way to have your puppy interact in a safe and controlled way with dogs of varying sizes and breeds. Interacting with and being handled by various people, as well as experiencing novel sounds, surfaces and objects in a positive way. Expose your puppy to everything you want them to accept with confidence as an adult dog. We will provide you with all the right tools and knowledge for raising a well-mannered, happy dog that you can take anywhere!
The most important socialization period of your puppies life is the first 3 months , so let us help you and your puppy get the best start possible. Build your puppy’s foundation skills for life using Positive Reinforcement, rewards, praise and play!
Your puppy will learn to: Settle on a Mat / Target / Sit / Down / Stay / Manners on a Leash / Come when called / Watch Me / Leave It / Develop a soft mouth (bite inhibition) & learn reliability off leash .
Owners will learn to read dog’s body language and understand normal dog behavior.
