HAPPY TAILS – Clef (now Boni)

Clef, now known to us as Boni (like Zamboni!) is adjusting so well to our family! Boni is adored by his human sisters, but I think the real affection comes from his fur-sister, Reba (known to GTHS as Cheeto). We adopted Reba back in December as a 2-month-old orange kitten. Reba learned her place in our family and the routine of the household from our old girl, Dub Cat. Our sweet Dub Cat passed away a month ago and we didn't want Reba to be lonely, which is how we came to adopt sweet Boni. Boni has fit into our family like he was always a part of it! We cannot wait to see him and Reba grow up together and be the bestest of friends!

Meet Poe! The GTHS Pet of the Week!

Poe is an 11 year old sweetheart who is waiting for his new home! He is a very sweet, affectionate, gentle boy who loves soaking up as much love as he can! He has been described as a playful couch potato! Poe would do well in a home with older children and he is fine with other cats! He has never met a dog so he does not know how he feels about them yet! Poe would be an amazing addition to your family and would add a lot of love, happiness and affection to your home.

HAPPY TAILS - Harrison

Harrison has brought so much joy to our family, and we want everyone to know that!
Harrison has settled in so well as if he has been with us always! He and Tyson (our beagle) get along so good. They are sharing toys, playing in the backyard, taking naps, though Tyson loves squeezing into Harrison’s bed when he is not in it!

Harrison loves to cuddle with all of us with a special liking for our middle son. He follows me around like a little toddler when he is not busy playing or sleeping. My afternoon lunch breaks are spent on the couch cuddling with him when I am home. He loves soaking up the sunshine! He has found a few favourite spots already for that. He is so adorable and he knows we love him so much❤️.

We were honoured to host MPP Saunderson at GTHS! It was a fantastic chance to highlight how our team is positively impacting pets and people in our community. United by our love for animals and commitment to progress, we're dedicated to making a difference.

During the visit, we discussed a pressing issue: we're currently operating at over 700% capacity, a figure expected to rise with future population growth. This emphasizes the urgent need for support, resources, and proactive planning to sustain our vital work.

Thank you, MPP Saunderson, for your time and dedication to animal welfare. With your support and our community's backing, we're committed to building a brighter future for all.

Our Story

Our Mission – The Georgian Triangle Humane Society is a not-for-profit charity in the South Georgian Bay area. Our mission is to deliver innovative programs and compassionate services that enhance the lives of pets in need and the people that care for them.

Our Vision – We dream and work towards a world in which there are no stray, unwanted, abandoned, neglected or abused companion animals by building awareness of animal welfare, and promoting responsible pet ownership.

The vision for the Georgian Triangle Humane Society, and the organization’s Shelter building, started in 1999 and The Collingwood and District Humane Society was born. In later years, the Collingwood and District Humane Society was changed to Georgian Bay Animal Rescue, and then ultimately The Georgian Triangle Humane Society, which it remains today.

The original vision was to have a building where the organization could house, help and adopt cats and dogs to forever homes. So, while volunteers rescued, cared for and placed cats and dogs in adoptive homes, they also began the massive project to build a shelter.
