Big breakthrough! 🙀 We're catsitting Walnut again, and his big-kitten energy and antics have caused waves in our house's feline social scene.

Rhubarb and Zucchini's established routine of peaceful birdwatching and couch potato cuddles has been spiced up by this mischievous little guy, to say the least! They're all familiar with eachother by now, but there's been a lot of dramatic communication, little rituals, social posturing and establishing their pecking order.

Walnut wants to play all day, and has been entertaining himself by sneaking up and pouncing on the girls. Which they don't always appreciate. This has lit a fire under their butts, gotten them more active, and been incredibly enriching in a few ways. Sometimes they even accept the invitation to play, but when they're annoyed, they're not afraid to bap him in the face until he backs off.

So they all get along, but it's a cautious social contract, and Rhubarb is the more skeptical one. Zucchini warmed up to him right away, but Rhubarb has kept her distance. Which is why it warmed my heart last night when I got home from work, and saw Rhubarb and Walnut cuddled up close, licking eachother and purring. Huge breakthrough! 🥹💞

It's so sweet to watch then become friends!
