This course is designed for individuals who are interested in learning about winter beekeeping and the do’s and don’ts during the cold months.

In this course, you will learn how to prepare your hive for winter. Requirements of your bees over the winter months. Feeding practices and emergency supplements. How to lessen the chances of winter mortality.

You will also learn about winter equipment for beekeeping, the different types of feed, and how to choose the right one. Additionally, you will learn about protective coverings.

Finally, you will learn about the honey harvesting process, with a hands on honey extracting experience.

Creating the Year Round Garden
a Full Day workshop with author/gardener Dan Rubin

After waiting years, Dan is finally ready to offer his well-attended workshop on extending
the growing season in our challenging climate. This session has previously been presented
in full length and as a talk, to more than 2000 gardeners here in Newfoundland & Labrador.

This is a workshop for beginners as well as experienced gardeners. It covers key techniques
for growing vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs, including building rich organic soil, using
raised beds and protective structures for added warmth, seed selection and ways to extend
the harvest by overwintering plants and indoor seed starting.
The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, September 30th at Avalon Homesteading in
Conception Bay South. There are only 12 spaces available, which will be filled on a first come
basis. If sufficient interest, a second session will be added on Sunday, the next day.

The cost for this full-day session is $90 per person. This fee includes all workshop materials,
and a home cooked lunch.

𝗔𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗮® (𝟲𝟭𝗹𝗯𝘀) 𝗯𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝗿𝘂𝗽 is a liquid, ready-to-use bee feed with a balanced spectrum of sugar types (fructose, glucose, sucrose) and a base of the purest beet sugar. 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝟭:𝟭 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼. The high proportion of fructose prevents crystallization of feed in the honeycombs. The high concentration of sugar makes the syrup resistant to microbiological spoilage. The nutrient concentration / feed value is about 72,7%.
