Betsy and Butters are very happy to announce their first litter! In just under four hours, Betsy delivered nine healthy puppies. Their litter consists of both liver and white pups as well as black and white pups ( 2 females, 7 males) .
The babes are now just over two weeks old and are spoken for. This breeding will definitely be repeated.

A great day was spent at the Red Barn Event Centre in Barrie, ON., with old friends and making new ones.
Betsy completed her Novice Sprinter title ( pending CKC approval) as well as earning two qualifiers to put towards her next level Sprinter title.
Betsy is now known as : BBPIG GCHB FOGELHUND’S BIG OLE BETSY CGN ATD NS.
Congratulations to all those who were successful today including my friend, Sheryl Law with her Doberman Poppy.
A special thank you to the volunteers at the Red Barn who made this event successful - without volunteers it would not happen.

We had a great time at the Scarborough Kennel Club from March 22nd - 24th, in Lindsay, ON.
A very special thanks to Judge Chantarasmee for awarding Betsy Select Bitch, from a very lovely group of GSPs.
Also a special thanks to Judge Ivan Sandoval for awarding Betsy both Select Bitch and Best Owner Handler in Breed. Betsy has always been breeder/owner/ handled by myself.
Congratulations to all the other successful winners this past weekend. Thank you , to all those who helped to make this show a success. Special thanks also to great friends Sheryl Law and Deb Dorken for making the weekend so much fun.

Dave and Lori Langen are the proud owners of two Fogelhund Kennel babies named Arwyn and Emma.
They enjoy competing in scent detection and other fun filled competitions.

Arwyn, aka: FOGELHUND’S ARWYN THE DARK QUEEN, SD-S SD-A SD-E , has earned many scent detection titles with Dave.

Arwyn is a 5 year old black GSP and Logan is an 8 year old little boy who is her best friend. They have been doing scent detection training together for approximately 2 years on and off. Logan is a busy boy and also has baseball and hockey to keep him busy.
They competed in their first Sport Detection Dog Association Trial on October 14th and 15th/23. Arwyn and Logan entered at the Started Level. They qualified in 4 out of 5 events. In a few of the events they were the fastest team to qualify and locate the scent .
This team is very excited to continue practicing and training for their next trial.

Way to go team Logan and Arwyn! We are so very proud of you and eagerly await to hear how you do at the next trial.

We had a great weekend at the Regional Specialty with Aurora Kennel Club.
Betsy aka: GCH FOGELHUND’S BIG OLE BETSY ATD CGN, and Gema aka: GCH FOGELHUND’S MISD DEMEANOR FDJ, did a lovely job representing Fogelhund Kennel.
On Saturday November 18th, our German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Canada hosted our Regional specialty with a total entry of 28 GSPs.
Under Judge Mr. C. DeGuiliani we were honoured with the following wins:
Betsy - Best Bred By handled by myself.
Gema- Best Pointing Bitch handled by handler and good friend Nate Francesco.

Gema also earned her Canine Good Neighbour title (CGN), handled by myself. As a result of her number of titles she has also been awarded her Versatile Dog Title (VD). Gema is owned lovingly by Maria Foster.

Congratulations to all the winners and new title holders. Thankyou to the club and its hard working members, including Heather Brennan, for putting on another wonderful show.
Special thanks to Nate for making the drive and helping me out in the ring. Finally, thanks to Matthew Kevin for sitting car-less all day while we were at the show having a blast and my co-pilot Deborah Dorken, good laughs and good friends.

A lovely surprise came in the mail, from the German Shorthair Pointer Club of Canada, yesterday.
Cooper has been awarded these three plaques in recognition of his outstanding achievements.
Jeff Pletch is the owner/ trainer/ handler of Cooper aka: CH FOGELHUND’S VIER J P COOPER FD FDA FDX FDXCH WD WDX WDE NTD CGN VD NAVDHA UT PZ1. They are such an amazing team and as Cooper’s breeder here at Fogelhund Kennel Perm Reg’d. we cannot be more proud and excited for them. Cooper is such a natural and embodies all the abilities and qualities of what a GSP should be.

ANOTHER FIRST IN THE BOOKS FOR OUR KENNEL!!

We had a great time at the GSPCC Water tests held in Binbrook this past weekend.
I’m sure our dogs were road weary after just completing 5 shows in 3 days in Muskoka and then going straight into the Water Testing.

I am so very proud of Jeff Pletch and Cooper. They tackled a CKC newly released Water Dog Elite title.
As a result, they are now the very first and only one to have added this title to their name! 🥇Two of their three qualifiers came with the Highest Score (99/100). Another first from Fogelhund Kennel Perm Reg’d.!
Cooper is now titled:
CH FOGELHUND’S VIER J P COOPER VD FD FDX FDA FDXCH WD WDX WDE NTD CGN NAVDHA UTILITY PZ1

Betsy, Paisley and Gema also had a fun time and are looking forward to next years test.
A special thanks to the hard work of Maria Foster for making this event come together. Also, thanks to judges Mike Leitch, Mike Foster and Jack Dafoe.
Thanks to all the people in the background who made it all happen.

A special shout out to Renato Poloni and Ripper , Jeff and Coopers training friend, for being the very first qualifier towards the Water Dog Elite title. I enjoyed meeting and getting to know him and his capable dogs.
Congratulations to all the new title holders and qualifiers. It was so nice to see people I haven’t seen in some time and meeting new ones.

Such an awesome weekend at the Muskoka District Kennel Club show for our Fogelhund pups!

Betsy was awarded - Best of Breed, Best Opposite (x2) and Select Bitch as we work towards her Bronze Grand Champion proudly Breeder Owner Handled.

Gema was awarded - Select Bitch (x3),
Best Opposite and finished off the show with Best of Breed and a fabulous Group 2, in a very strong Sporting Group.

I’m so proud of how Gema has followed in her mother’s steps (Paisley).
As you recall, Paisley was the first solid Black GSP CKC Champion and now Gema ( pending CKC approval) will be the first Black Grand Champion GSP Gema was also the first Black GSP in Canada to earn a Group 1 win and now has a Group 2 to her credit!!

Congratulations to Gema’s Owner Maria Foster and thank you to Nate Francesco for piloting our girl to her current standing.

Thank you to all the respected judges for recognizing our girls amongst some very nice dogs.

Special thanks to the Muskoka Kennel Club for hosting a great show and providing a wonderful BBQ and raffle last night it was a blast!!

So thankful to Sheryl Law for her support and sharing a great few days with me at the show and cottage. It was great to see well the dogs all interacted together and was fun to watch her Dobermans swim for the first time with Gema and Betsy…
So proud of all her wins and thanks for stepping in to take Gema’s leaf as well!

This truly was a weekend to remember!
We attended the Georgina Kennel Club Dog Show with Gema and Betsy.
Today, under Judge Genevieve Munro, our two girls were both pulled out for consideration of Best of Breed. Gema, ultimately was honoured with the win of Best of Breed and Betsy with Select Bitch. What a breeder/ handlers thrill!
We are so proud to announce that Gema completed her CKC championship today and CKC pending is now,
CH. FOGELHUND’S MISS DEMEANOUR FDJ.
Under the care of her new best friend, handler Nate Scarpino, professionally guided her through to a Group 1 win against a large group of top dogs. Nate continued to show her at the Best In Show level.
Thankyou Judge Ms. G. Munro for awarding Gema her Group 1 win from a lovely lineup of dogs. We believe that Gema is the first black German Shorthaired Pointer to win a Group 1 in Canada under the CKC.
Congratulations to owner Maria Foster- thanks for allowing Gema to be shown and make our kennel proud.
We look forward to seeing Gema’s future unfold and where her new connection with Nate takes her.

Wonderful news for Betsy! She attended the Red Barn in Barrie yesterday and earned her CGN title (Canine Good Neighbour). Thanks to her evaluator Laura Belisle for her new title.
She also earned 3 qualifiers towards her Sprinter title. The club ran a very smooth and efficient event. Thanks to all the volunteers!
Finally, Betsy’s Grand Champion certificate from the CKC finally arrived to confirm her title.
Betsy is now: BBPIG GRCH FOGELHUND’S BIG OLE BETSY ATD CGN.

On Saturday July 9th/22, we attended the UKC show hosted by the Grand River Kennel Club.
Betsy, aka: GCH. FOGELHUND’S BIG OLE BETSY, NTD ITD ATD. , won a Group 1st under Judge Michael Keeler.
We were thrilled to be selected from a large group of lovely dogs. Betsy is well under way to earning her UKC Championship after a successful weekend.

It was a great day at the Erie Shores Dog show and our German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Canada Specialty Show.
FOGELHUND’S MISS DEMEANOUR, Aka: Gema, owned by Maria Foster, tackled showing like a star. Gema went Reserve Winners Bitch under Judge Mr. S. Herman.
Truly a breeder/handlers proud moment!

We are so very proud of owner Maria Foster and Gema, Aka: FOGELHUND’S MISS DEMEANOR, for earning her first two qualifiers of her Field Dog Jr.
Thanks to Judges Terri Simmons-Cornell and Jack Defoe for Gema’s
scores of 95 & 93. A special thanks to Rich Izback for handling Gema this weekend at her first hunt test.
Congrats to all the other qualifiers and new title holders this weekend! As always, these events cannot be held without the efforts of the volunteers,
gunners, bird planters, judges and the GSPCC for hosting a wonderful Field Dog Test.

We had a great weekend at the Victoria County Kennel Club show. Four out of five shows we won Best of Breed.

It is with broken hearts we say goodbye, much too soon, to one of our beloved Fogelhund Kennel GSPs.
Rocket aka:
CH. FOGELHUND’S SKY ROCKET N FLIGHT, AmSH CD RN CGN.
May 31, 2010 - March 22, 2022
Rocket was a solid liver GSP and was multi capable in field, show, water and various forms of obedience. Most of all she was an amazing mother to all her puppies of three litters. She produced the first solid black Shorthairs for our kennel.
Rocket got her name from the non- stop wagging and speed of her tail (even when swimming)! She always had a flower, leaf, toy or stick in her mouth to share with all family and visitors. Her contagious crooked smile was heart warming. Cuddling both her human and fur family was her favorite part of the day. No one was ever left out!
RIP Rocket - we miss you.

Betsy enjoying her first winter.

When the going gets tough - the dogs get going! Making the most out of a fresh dumping of snow.

Quinn’s, aka: Fogelhund’s Harley Quinn, video of her learning to dock dive! We are so proud of this Rocket X Sue puppy and the great job her owner, Liam Murphy is doing handling her.

Fogelhund’s babies are now four weeks old and enjoying their first meal that’s not from mommy Oakley.

Fogelhund Kennel is happy to announce that Oakley’s babies have found their feet and starting to walk/roll/tumble around their box. When their eyes open and with more practice, I’m sure they will be much more successful. For now they are enjoying playing bumper cars with each other.

Aww the sounds of puppies!

This weekend was very exciting at Fogelhund Kennel as all of Rocket’s babies went off to their new homes. It is always special for us when the puppies new “fur-ever” homes share experiences and stay in touch. This video reveals one of our repeat families surprising their small children with their new puppy. Their reaction was just so heartwarming we had to share with you all!!!

Our Fogelhund Kennel German Shorthaired Pointers never stop amusing us and putting a smile on our face. Dierks at his best!

Snow, sleet, hail, freezing rain, high winds and rain - and or all the above... nothing keeps a good dog down. Dierks says it’s all good fun as he takes Craig and Kristen Nicole for a walk.

We had a day of extreme high winds, snow flurries and white outs but our dogs never say no to going out for a run. Dierks had a great time and made us laugh at the same time.
