What a great first weekend of December! We hosted a DS2 trial the previous Sunday at Windsor Plywood Coquitlam, BC. Such a great turnout and what a great location to search. All teams did so well and as always we have a lot of thank you’s owed to a lot of people that make this all possible.

First off Windsor Plywood Coquitlam, having businesses in the community that support these events is amazing.
Windsor Plywood loves dogs so much they chose again to donate their whole rent fee for this event to the Coquitlam Animal Shelter
All of our participants were in particular awe of their doors, raw wood edged shelving & fixture selections! Please go check them out and support local! Their staff couldn’t be more welcoming and accommodating to us.

Thank you to our Officials, Megan Brooking for judging and Allison Maxwell for being a wonderful Search Official for another great trial in the books with nice pass rates.

We got to give away more cool swag, thank you to Fashion Biz Wholesale for helping us with that!

Thank you so so much to all the volunteers. These events don’t run without people like you helping out. You are the life blood of any dog sport event and very appreciated.

Thank you to everyone that came out to participate as a team. When you are supporting Coastal Canine’s trials or Canadian Detection Sport Association you are supporting two Canadian women ran organizations. We love watching all of your dogs, and hope to see everyone for our next trial dates in February. Again major thank you to Windsor Plywood Coquitlam and the owners there.

What is a CDSA DSV Title?

DSV stands for Detection Sport Versatility Title. Detection sport is one of the few dog sports that have a vast range of organizations you can compete under. Each organization brings something different to the table. A team that trials under several organizations will be presented with different environments, search styles, time constraints, odours, odour strengths, passing criteria, and more. A team that shows proficiency in several organizations proves versatile in detection sports. At CDSA we would like to recognize these teams and encourage them to enjoy the many benefits and fun of different organizations and search styles.

DSV1 is to recognize teams that have completed titles in a minimum of 3 detection sport organizations. DSV2 is 5 organizations, and DSV3 is 7. ONE of the above totals can be a recognized online title. Please contact us if you want more information on which online programs we recognize for online titles. The remaining titles need to be achieved in person, in a blind test, for target oil and have proof of passing (certificates or online results on official websites). DSV1 must be completed before applying for DSV2 and 3. You do not need to be a CDSA member to qualify for DSV titles.

Common Detection Sport Organizations recognized:
CDSA
**NEW Super Scenter League
ABC Games
NACSW
CKC
C-Wags
Woofy Scenting Games (formerly K9SGG)
AKC
SDDA
UKC
Can include titles from ‘dead’ organizations as long as there is proof of a certificate.

What a great weekend! We hosted our second Canadian Detection Sport Association DS1 & DS2 trial last Sunday at Windsor Plywood in Coquitlam. Such a great turnout and still what a great location to search. This was our largest trial to date with 195 searches within the day. All teams did so well and as always we have a lot of thank you’s owed to a lot of people that make this all possible.

First off Windsor Plywood Coquitlam, BC, having businesses in the community that support these events is amazing.

All of our participants were in particular awe of their doors, raw wood edged shelving & fixture selections! Please go check them out and support local! Their staff couldn’t be more welcoming and accommodating to us.

Thank you to our Officials, Megan Brooking & Lia Bijsterveld (DS1 Judges) & Allison Maxwell & Lâle Aksu (DS2 Judges) for a great job with all the search needs, de-briefs of kind words & other help or details.

We had a special guest (one of our CDSA NL judges) fly all the way from Newfoundland to shadow our day and how our trials are ran. Thank you Susan Hoyles for helping out along the way, it was a pleasure having you.

Thank you so so much to all the volunteers. These events don’t run without people like you helping out. You are the life blood of any dog sport event and very appreciated.

Thank you to our photographer Yaunna Rae Photography for all your hard work. She took over 3400 photos while staying for both levels ALL day, we are all excited to see the results upcoming. Give her a follow to keep up to date!

Thank you to everyone that came out to participate as a team. We had the first dog ever in Canada to obtain a DS2-Ex (Expert Title/3 all or nothing passes at that level) at this event. This is one of our Coastal Canine students, Benson the border terrier and his human Ashley and we are very proud of them. Not only were they the first but completed all their DS1 levels first as well!

If you got this far in the post and participated this day we would love to see a ribbon pic in the comment section below!

What an exciting breeding coming up. If anyone is looking for the next family addition to their home. Whippets are the best housemates and can really work sports too! As the senior trainer I tell people all of the time I will help when it's next time to pick the right breed of dog for you. It would be hard to not make a whippet the right breed for a lot of people; active when needed, chill when needed, low grooming needs, medium size, health tested, even temperaments - they have it all!

We are happy to announce our 2024 litter of Cody and Lynx, which has been confirmed by ultrasound. The due date is Feb 14th, 2024.

We are very thankful to Lorna for all of her constant support and for allowing this breeding. We are excited to welcome our next generation of CopperSea Whippets.

Our goal is to breed versatile, healthy, and biddable Whippets.

If you’re hoping to do sports with your Whippet, or race and show, then this is the litter for you. Lynx and Cody puppies will come from generations of proven versatile Whippets. Have a look at the parents, grandparents and great grand parents of these pups and you’ll see: ARX and DPCX titles on both sides of the pedigree, many finished Show Champions or Grand Champions, Field Champions, Nosework champions (including SDDA Elite titles), Trick titles, Barn Hunt titles, and much, much more.

Aside from nice working Whippets they will also make excellent and extremely loving, biddable pets to active homes. Biddability means more than just good sport dogs. It also means that your dog will be a trainable, happy and engaged companion.

A bit about Cody:

-ARX Pointed
-Multiple BOB and Group Placements, including Specialty BOB
-Placed second in his first and only weekend of lure coursing with a full stake of whippets
-Multi CWA High Combined
-WRA Division II Pointed
-Always an enthusiastic Scent Detection dog

A bit about Lynx:

-CKC Grand Champion and Titled in Scent Detection, Tricks, Barn Hunt, Cooperative Care, Tricks, Sprinter and Versatility
-Sporting Detection Champion with Gold scores
-Very dog social but engaged with her handler
-Food and toy motivated
-Also enjoys training in Agility, and any game that involves a frisbee

Puppies are CWA and WRA DII eligible.
