The NLFWEOA would like to wish all, a very happy and healthy holiday season!

We hope that everyone takes the time to spread the holiday cheer with all their family and friends!

With the holiday season winding up, our provinces big game season is winding down on many part of the island. We'd like to extend special acknowledgement to the members and officers who are working throughout the holiday season protecting our provincial resources.

Good luck to those who have yet to fill your tags. Cold weather, and shorter days can always add unplanned challenges when enjoying the outdoors, please plan accordingly and keep safety in mind!

Tomorrow morning (September 13th) marks what many in our province consider to be the most exciting day of the year - opening day for Big Game! Although some big game seasons have already opened in areas of the province, the majority of license holders will be elligible to begin hunting at legal light tomorrow.

THOUSANDS of hunters are packing bags, sharpening knives, checking and re-checking gear lists, along with many travelling across the province to access their favorite hunting locations in hopes of making memories with friends and family, as well as filling the freezer.

Here at NLFWEOA we too share in the excitement of the big game season! Members as well as many Resource Enforcement Officers are preparing for the upcoming season, officers have been busy all Summer, and plan to continue to be busy headed into the Fall.

For the 2025-2026 season the province of Newfoundland and Labrador is boasting over 35,000 Big Game license holder's (Moose, Caribou, and Black Bear). Which in itself is phonomal achievement! We simply would not have such rich wildlife resources without everyone playing their part to protect and conserve every aspect of our natural resource.

NLFWEOA would like to remind all members of the public to keep safety at the forefront of any trips, please let someone know where you plan to be, and carry a first aid kit at all times - nobody ever plans to have a bad day!

Lastly we would also like to encourage anyone who suspects ANY illegal activity surrounding our natural resources to call our provincial poaching line at 1-877-820-0999, or report directly at www.stoppoaching.ca. members of the public are also encouraged to call Crime Stoppers to report any tips they wish anonymously.
No tip is too small to report and it's YOUR resource they are stealing.

Good luck to all hunters this year, and we're sure we'll see you outdoors!
