If you’ve had your eye 👀 out for a new piece of decor for your tank, the skull in one of our saltwater tanks is a time-tested, cross-species favourite! We’ve yet to encounter a fish that doesn’t like it - our Lawnmower Blenny* gives it a glowing review**: “I love the spacious interior, and all the windows really brighten up the place!”
*compensated for his participation with plenty of good algae

If you’ve been in the store the last couple of weeks, I would bet you probably didn't notice our Aspidoras spilotus - these locally bred catfish are currently about the size of a pygmy cory and definitely easy to miss, even to trained eyes! (And hard to get clear photos of 🥲)

These little guys are a great bottom-dwelling fish for a peaceful community tank, and their maximum size is less than 2 inches. We recommend groups of 3-6, and they are currently on sale for 3 / $18.99!

They don’t have a common name, but we’ve been calling them “wiener cories” 😆 Come check them out! They're sure to entertain 🌭🐟

We’re feeling a little peckish looking at these new fish — fuzzy peaches, anyone? 🍑🍬 These might just be the nicest Pearl Gourami we’ve ever had, and the Orange Flame Tetra aren’t hard on the eyes either! We think they would look fantastic in a tank together 🥰

We try to make sure our small animals get lots of enrichment during their time with us, and a fun and easy way to do that is providing foraging opportunities! While this can be as simple as scatter feeding, you can also step it up by hiding food or treats in a toy, or creating a foraging box! Check out the pictures for a step by step on how we made ours, including what we filled it with! As always, make sure to double check that the snacks you use are safe for your specific animal 🐹💛

New Anubias just dropped 🤯🌱 Check out the Anubias nana ‘pinto’, a speckled variant of Anubias barteri var. nana! This cheery little epiphyte boasts bright colour paired with the easy care of the Anubias species. Their variegation is unstable, meaning they will require nice bright light to retain their speckles, but we think they’re definitely worth the extra attention 🥰

Tiny fish that are HUGE in personality, gobies have long been a popular fish in salt water aquariums, but did you know we usually have a few freshwater varieties available too? Ask a staff member if you can't find one - they are quite small and often elusive (gobies, mostly not the staff) and make a great addition to a smaller planted tank.

A true freshwater species, these tiny (3cm) golden red gobies (Stiphodon cf.rutilaureus) are having a standoff (30 gallons just isn't big enough for the two of them)

Of the many different corydoras species we have in stock, one trait they all share is that they are happiest in groups of their own kind. We recommend at least three, but like with all schooling fish the more the merrier! 🐟🐠🐟

POV: You’re a Red Eye Tetra hanging out with your new Amazon Puffer friends! 🐡 The Amazon Puffer is a fully freshwater puffer that maxes out at about 3 inches! Unlike other puffers, they do not require a species-only tank (minimum 30 gallons) and could be housed with other boisterous, medium-sized fish! They can be kept singular or in large groups (6 or more) and will tolerate a wide range of water parameters! We’re not saying they’re perfect, but they kind of are 🤷‍♂️
