Spur Valley Adventures closure for 2024 season, we look forward to one day circling back to this as we know how valuable SVA is to our community and we want to thank each and every customer who made our opening years so special. 🫶

Update:
We would like to start off by again, thanking every one of you for your continued support. It seems we can’t say those words enough. ❤️

So far our remaining horses seem to be doing well. Ace is still undergoing treatment and will be for a while but he seems to be recovering.
Under normal circumstances, we would be optimistic that this is coming to an end, however we have learned there are potential side affects.
Cosmo was among the first of the horses to show symptoms. He was severely swollen and lethargic. Once his abscesses broke he seemed to recover nicely. He was eating, his body weight was good and he regained his usual cute and grumpy attitude. Cosmo appeared extremely healthy and we were confident he had fully recovered. Then he began to show subtle signs of colic. We had the vet check him and his heart rate was elevated but he had good gut sounds. Gabby did night checks and walked him constantly but despite our efforts we lost him within 2 days. A post mortem exam confirmed a ruptured abscess in his stomach.
The vet advised us this can sometimes be a side effect of the strangles and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. Although there is a good chance this won’t happen to the other horses, we remain on high alert.

We would like to repeat our message to people:
Please, if your horses become infected, tell people. Spread the word in an effort to stop the spread of infection.
Encourage one another to speak up by offering compassion and not judgment.
Most importantly, talk to your vet. Education and communication is crucial in the battle against Strangles.

We have an amazing community. Again, we would like to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support. You have no idea what this means to us. ❤️

We have been struggling to find the words to express our gratitude for what everyone has done for us.
To say that the generosity and compassion we have received from this community is overwhelming, is an understatement. It will take a long time for our hearts to heal but with the support we have received from all of you, our healing can begin.
Unfortunately our horses are not out of the woods yet but we are continuing a rather aggressive treatment plan and we are hopeful that the ones left will survive and go on to live long healthy lives.
Again, thank you All, from the bottom of our hearts! ❤️❤️

We are hopeful that out of this tragedy comes some good. We want every horse owner out there to realize how important communication is. If you ever have this misfortune of your horses becoming infected, please talk about it. Let people know it is happening. Even when you isolate your horses, it is out there because your horses got it from somewhere. By getting the word out, others will take extra precautions and it will help stop the spread.
No one understands more than we do how hard it is to tell people that your horses are infected and they have or may have infected their horses, because we had to do it. The fear of how people will react, the fear that you will be viewed as irresponsible for not “protecting” your horses and other people’s horses, it’s all very real but we have to overcome that.
Communication is key and this experience has proven that we have an incredibly understanding and compassionate community.
Talk to your vet, educate yourselves and please vaccinate!

My favourite sport would be roping, breakaway, team, tie down all the above. working with a horse while roping a steer. Creating a stronger bond of trust and a team.

Yesterday we raised $2,360 for the Mallard family. ✨

𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗥 ⬇️

On Sunday July 23rd some employees of our 𝗦𝗽𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 family were affected by a bad car accident - Colin Mallard, brother to Caity Pighin & Uncle to Lexyss Pighin, was severely injured. Caity’s parents and Lexyss’ grandparents have suffered minor injuries however Colin remains in serious condition.
In an effort to support Colin & his family, 𝗦𝗽𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 will be donating 100% of ALL revenue on Saturday 𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 29𝗧𝗛 to the Mallard family.
We have lots ot 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗲 availabilty so message us to book!

Due to air quality & activity we have temporarily shut down our trail rides & lessons. We are very sorry for inconvenience during this time. 🏔️

Our heart goes out to all of those affected by the fire and praying for everyone involved. Thank you to our firefighters and pilots working so hard to keep everyone safe. ♥️

Kharys started the volunteer program on the ranch with us earlier this year, you won’t see this girl without a smile on her face - Kharys is hardworking, determined and has such a huge passion for horses. 🐴 You’ll find Kharys loving on the horses, leading our 𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀 or out on the 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀.
