Trotting and a canter with Stevie plus our first ride in the arena π
She was fairly convinced there were bears in the trees last night, so I'm glad she got her brain together today. We pushed through, and she offered me this nice little canter.
Stevie working on figuring out turning with a bit and even offered a little trot.
She must be feeling the fall air (π₯Ά I sure am) as she had a playful buck on the ground before we really got to work lol
Stevie update
Shes beginning to figure out doing things my way makes it a lot easier for her. She's incredibly smart.
Stevie learning to handle weight and a rider.
At first she was worried as I hung off her side and she moved. But luckily her brain processing is great for a young horse. She figures out to slow down and think. We just need to learn to trust.

Trail rides for Theoden π
A group with children and strange horses including trotting and dogs. A pretty good boy
Pitter patter π€
Theoden in the arena. 3rd ride.
This is what happens when owners do their homework! Theoden has been here for only a few days but is in saddle and figuring things out π
This pudgy guy hasn't had much exposure to bits, so he is figuring that out but not spooking and doesn't care about the saddle/rider. Now it's just a game of consistency.
Theoden - Back again for a start under saddle!
A little heavy but here to get fit and start his equine partnership journey.
I had Theoden as a yearling and had started ground work and handling. This is me testing what he remembered. His owners had done their homework and kept up with his handling, which makes my job much easier π
Wiiiide open spaces. Well... sort of. This is Fionas' first time riding in the arena. Now that we've gotten over the hump, she's becoming a real great partner.
Brave enough that I can start pushing her put and getting her moving πβοΈ
I can tell how exciting and fun this girl is going to be once she's confidently going. HOWEVER, we must NOT skip steps! No matter how tempting it is.
It's pushing time. Fiona will be hitting the arena and trails this week and expanding her riding world βοΈπ« late night rides for us.
Trying to figure out horses can be difficult.
So let's work with them instead of against them. Taking away added stressors from Rainmaker gave him the courage to let me on his back.
No pulling on his wither, no banging of the saddle, no flopping around.
Just me.
Hes totally ok with a saddle! But if things can be made easier, they should be π
Rainmaker! A 6 year old mustang in for a fresh start. When I tell you this guy is athletic and agile, I MEAN IT.
Quick as whip, spins on a dime, tons of leg action and can trot at least 32mph.
If you can see yourself and Rainmaker as a team, send me a PM!
