This is what happens when owners do their homework! Theoden has been here for only a few days but is in saddle and figuring things out π
This pudgy guy hasn't had much exposure to bits, so he is figuring that out but not spooking and doesn't care about the saddle/rider. Now it's just a game of consistency.
Theoden - Back again for a start under saddle!
A little heavy but here to get fit and start his equine partnership journey.
I had Theoden as a yearling and had started ground work and handling. This is me testing what he remembered. His owners had done their homework and kept up with his handling, which makes my job much easier π
Wiiiide open spaces. Well... sort of. This is Fionas' first time riding in the arena. Now that we've gotten over the hump, she's becoming a real great partner.
Brave enough that I can start pushing her put and getting her moving πβοΈ
I can tell how exciting and fun this girl is going to be once she's confidently going. HOWEVER, we must NOT skip steps! No matter how tempting it is.
It's pushing time. Fiona will be hitting the arena and trails this week and expanding her riding world βοΈπ« late night rides for us.
Trying to figure out horses can be difficult.
So let's work with them instead of against them. Taking away added stressors from Rainmaker gave him the courage to let me on his back.
No pulling on his wither, no banging of the saddle, no flopping around.
Just me.
Hes totally ok with a saddle! But if things can be made easier, they should be π
Rainmaker! A 6 year old mustang in for a fresh start. When I tell you this guy is athletic and agile, I MEAN IT.
Quick as whip, spins on a dime, tons of leg action and can trot at least 32mph.
If you can see yourself and Rainmaker as a team, send me a PM!
Here's a very boring but exciting clip of me on Fiona! She's really needed the time for slow, steady and consistent work. She is not quick to trust or forgive. But she'll make an AMAZING partner once you earn it ππ
I use vocal cues on timid horses like Fiona so direction change isn't so abrupt. She learns them while ground driving and they are carried over into saddle.

Trust the process
Don't push things
Build the trust ππ
Fiona is taking steps and building foundations.
I'm so proud of her for getting this far. Riding is next!

Fiona, first saddle. Taking things easy as this girl needs lots of trust building. She's never been asked to do something that wasn't on her terms. Building a partnership takes times.
That first day bit feeling π

Come for a canter with me π
Having control while on the trail in all gaits is an accomplishment of its own!

This girl is AWESOME!!
Showing athleticism and reminding me why I loved her so much the first time.
Walk to canter, hip movement! Now that she's carrying herself better and using her back and butt we can really start asking for things!

Sharita is back and training season has started!!
I forgot how much I liked this little mare. Some little sticky issues I plan on addressing but owner wanted to focus on body control and obstacles. Luckily, we have friends like Whiskey Creek Acres who have a fantastic course set up!
Let the fun and riding begin!!

Super grateful to have neighbours with facilities like this that we can ride at π©΅π thanks to Wanda out at #HardRockMtnRanch and for this candid video. This is Taran's first real ride in MONTHS. First time seeing this type of obstacle. First ride after her injury. AND it was a great ride :) Can't wait until SPRING!!
Evening canters down the trail on faithful white horses πβοΈβοΈ
Trails trails trails.
Still have space available for training horses this year π PM me
Working with Taran. Earning eachothers trust and developing a good relationship ππ«Ά
Trust the process! Trust your gut! Trust your partner!!
Taran and I have been working on the ground a lot. She had a lot of things to work through. She was given a very mismatched tool box and lacked very important tools.
I'm so happy we got here together!
Looking forward to our season πβοΈ
