BC SPCA East Kootenay The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting vulnerable animals and mobilizing communities so animals and people thrive together.

We serve the following communities: Invermere, Windemere, Fairmont Hot Springs, Canal Flats, Elkford, Scookumchuck, Wasa, Kimberley, Cranbrook, Jaffray, Elko, Radium Hot Springs and Edgewater. Sundays are doggy appreciation day!
Today’s highlight is miss Ari🐾

Ari has been with us far, far too long, and it’s truly time for this sweet girl to find the person who will love her the way she deserves. She’s a gorgeous 7-year-old husky mix with a big personality, a goofy side, and the most loyal heart once she trusts you.

💙 Her Comeback Story
Ari didn’t always have it easy. When she first arrived, she was extremely dog-reactive and overwhelmed by the world around her. But with the help of our incredibly dedicated trainer, Tracy-Lee, Ari has made huge progress. Today, she can enjoy playtime with small dogs and navigate new environments with confidence. Her growth has been nothing short of amazing.

🎾 Ari’s Favorite Things
• Playing fetch until your arm gets tired
• Squeaky toys (the louder, the better)
• Routine, structure, and people who let her warm up on her own terms

🍽️ Special Diet, Happy Tummy
Ari thrives on a hydrolyzed protein diet, which keeps her tummy comfortable and healthy. It’s simple to maintain and helps her feel her best.

🐾 What Ari Needs in a Home
Ari is a girl who appreciates her personal space and needs someone who understands basic dog body language. She’s not difficult — just particular, and deserving of someone who respects her boundaries. Once she bonds with you, she’s affectionate, playful, and incredibly loyal.

🏡 Who She’s Looking For
• An experienced dog person who appreciates a dog with personality
• A home willing to continue supporting her training
• Someone patient and compassionate
• A space where she can relax, play, and feel safe

Hello everyone, welcome back to Enrichment Wednesday's!!

We have shared with you what each different day of the week means here at the shelter. Another good way for wonderful ideas for enrichment for all your fur babies is looking online! 🐱🐈‍⬛🐩
If you just go on google, and type in enrichment ideas for cats, dogs, or any critters that you have at home, there are so many ideas, and choices for you to try from toys, treats, home made, or even store bought! 🐠🐈‍⬛🐕🐾 Here are a couple pictures/ ideas from google! 😀

This sweet girl has been in shelter for 140 days 😢

Meet Tubs:
Age: Mature and majestic (around 6-8 years)
Personality: Sweet, sassy, and full of purr-sonality 😽
Size: More to love! 🍩 (and she’s working on her fitness 💪)
Favorite things: Although she is on a low calorie diet, she loves treats, chin scratches, and being the center of attention 💅
Tubs is the perfect mix of diva and snugglebug. She’ll happily rule your home from her throne (aka your comfiest couch cushion) and grace you with cuddles when the mood strikes. 🛋️💤
She’s not a fan of being picked up, however she will gladly come to you for all the love and affection she can get!
She prefers a calm household where she can shine solo – no other pets, please. She’s the main character. 🎬✨

Welcome back to Enrichment Wednesday's!!

Another week has gone by, so here we are to share our Enrichment ideas with you all once again!

Last week we shared Water Monday's, so Treasure Hunt Tuesday's is this weeks Enrichment!! 🐱🐈‍⬛🐩
Treasure Hunt Tuesday's is so much fun here at the shelter!! There are so many wonderful and inventive ideas for you to experiment with for your furry friends!! 🐕🐩🐈‍⬛. You can use any kind of clean container, small litter box, boxes of any shapes and sizes, empty toilet paper rolls, plastic bottles, or even some treat dispensers. Here at the shelter, we turn it into an arts and crafts day for our animals! Turning boxes, bottles, toilet paper rolls, into something wonderful and enticing for them to really get their minds going, and playing all at the same time. We use ribbons, strings or pipe cleaners to tie toys up somewhere fun in boxes.🐱🐾🐕‍🦺 Toilet paper rolls with cut outs and drawings on them to knock treats out, or treat dispensers. Another great idea is plastic bottles filled with treats, and a few cut outs to get their favorite snacks out as well!!!

Is anyone missing g a tuxedo cat. Female, spayed, microchipped but not registered. She is 5 almost 6 yrs old. I can only post her face as she is in pretty bad condition. Our info says she lived near the trailer park on 10th but was found further up gold creek. Any info helps so we can properly help her.
