Let's get this little guy back home! His name is Buddy and has a blue collar with phone numbers stitched on it! He was last seen on the owners property near the Water Valley/Bottrel area but believe he was spooked and took off. Last seen just east of Lost Lake Scout Camp on Township road 290 around 12pm yesterday.
If any one has any information please call the clinic and well put you in touch with the owners!

This week we celebrate the one and only Sam! The rock of the clinic, the one that keeps our p**p in a group!

We could honestly list a million and one things that Sam does for the clinic on a daily basis, but here are just a few!

-Reception duties (including answering phones, client care, booking appointments, managing files and prescription pickups)
-Inventory management and daily, weekly and monthly reports
-Helping the vets and techs restrain animals for exams, minor procedures, lab procedures and surgical prep
-Cleaning, laundry and surgical pack preparation
-Patient care

These are just a few of the things that Sam will do every single day!

We are so very lucky to have such a kind hearted, funny, hard working and committed Veterinary Receptionist on our team! We don't know what we would do without her!

We love you Sam!!! If you love and appreciate Sam the way we do, feel free to stop by this week and thank her, or leave her a message in the comments below to make her smile and know how much we all appreciate her!

Looking for a great option for a healthy treat for your dog???? Low in fat and protein, Apples make a great choice for our senior pets ! They are full of vitamins A and C as well as fibre too!! They make a great addition to home made dog treats or frozen as a cool summertime snack !
Be sure to remove the core and seeds before feeding them to your dog though!

March is Poison Prevention Awareness Month! There are a number of foods out there that we enjoy that we can happily and safely share with our pets, but there are also many things out there that are dangerous for our pets to ingest!

Always consult your veterinarian before treating your pet to human foods, and be sure to check your homes and property for signs of things that may be harmful to your pets! When you take your pet somewhere new, whether it be a friends property or even to work with you, do not assume that the surroundings are pet/animal proofed!

Let's talk a little bit about responsible pet ownership! When you get a pet, you must be able to commit to the relationship for the lifetime of your pet, which can be quite a long time depending on the species! Did you know that a tortoise can live up to 80-150 years, and the average horse lives to be 20-30 years old!
This means that we cannot be impulsive, we must do our research to see what type of pet would be best suited to our specific home and lifestyle.

The link we have posted here has some great information for anyone who is considering getting a pet of any kind!

https://www.avma.org/resources-tools/avma-policies/guidelines-responsible-pet-ownership

Remember that owning a pet is privilege, not a right, so we always need to consider the best interests of the pet.

Owning a pet is a privilege and should result in a mutually beneficial relationship. The benefits of pet ownership come with responsibilities.

February is a busy month in the Veterinary Industry!
This month is also National Cat Health Month!!!

Our feline friends can be notoriously good at hiding any issues they have, so if not routinely examined (at least once yearly) cats can develop issues that can become chronic problems.

Listed below are a few of the most common issues that we deal with in cats:

-Feline lower urinary tract disease and blockage
-Arthritis
-Dental Disease
-Obesity
-Kidney Disease
-Upper Respiratory Disease
-Vomiting +/- Hairball issues
-Parasite Overload (Ear Mites and Internal Parasites such as Tapeworms)

Give us a call today to book your annual wellness examination for your kitty and keep them healthy for years to come!

February is Spay and Neuter Awareness Month!

There are many reasons why you should spay and neuter your pets. Here are some of the most important reasons:

1. As Bob Barker always said, "Help Control the Pet Population". Help prevent unwanted pregnancies!
2. Prevent things like wandering away from home, searching for a mate.
3. Help minimize aggressive behaviors and/or territorial behaviors such as urine marking, or dominance over other pets in the household.
4. Eliminate annoying heat cycles in female cats and dogs.
5. Significantly minimizing the risk of reproductive health problems such as mammary cancers, life threatening uterine infections (pyometras), testicular cancer, and prostate issues.

There are some guidelines as to when it is best to spay or neuter your pets, so if you want to book your pet in or get more information regarding the best time to get them fixed, please do not hesitate to contact us!

We also offer a "Barn Buddy" Program here at the clinic for spaying and neutering barn cats! Call today to see if you qualify for the program.

February is Dental Health Month! Don't forget to give us a call to book your pet in for their annual Dental COHAT!

Being mindful of your pet's dental health is one of the most important things you can do for your pet. Dental disease not only causes foul smelling breath and tooth and gum disease, but can also contribute to conditions such as liver, kidney or heart disease from the constant overgrowth of bacteria in the pets mouth flooding the bloodstream.

Daily brushing, oral water additives and chews, as well as yearly dental cleanings will help your pet keep their mouth healthy for years to come! Give us a call today!
