With the future of the US/Canadian tariffs being so uncertain, we want to try to prevent our customers from being impacted for as long as possible.
At this time, it sounds as though Tuesday will be the first day that tariffs will be charged on Canadian shipments to the USA. Being that we are now located just minutes from the Porthill, Idaho border, we will deliver all US orders to Idaho tomorrow, February 3rd.
We cannot say what will happen beyond that, but we will do everything in our power to help our customers avoid additional expense.

G's Formula Research Recap - Fact #5
In the second study, G’s Formula was fed to actively racing Standardbred horses. G’s Formula was found to produce changes in electrolytes associated with pH balance, which may indicate that G’s Formula (as an alkalinizing substance) plays a role in delaying the onset of fatigue in exercising horses. (Waller et al., 2010)
At the end of this study, horses on G’s Formula had significantly higher Co2 (blood oxygen levels, associated with enhanced performance) than the control horses. Increased plasma Co2 is a physiologically desirable occurrence for animals exercising at high intensity, as this will buffer (to some extent) accumulation of H+, which contributes to the onset of fatigue (Raymer et al., 1985).
G's Formula Research Recap - Fact #4
‘Rouleaux’ describes a stacked formation of red blood cells, and is an indicator of blood viscosity. Increased rouleaux in healthy individuals is generally undesirable, as it reduces red cell surface area available for gas exchange.
For colicing horses, elevated rouleaux formation is often associated with fatal outcomes, whereas colic patients with lower rouleaux formation tend to have improved clinical outcomes.
In the second study, horses that were fed G’s Formula showed a significant decline in rouleaux formation post-exercise.
G's Formula Research Recap - Fact #3
SMM (also known as “Vitamin U”, the predominant enzyme in cabbage) and beta glucans from oat groats are well known to reduce stomach acidity, thus healing and preventing gastric ulcers. Other amino acids and vitamins found in G’s Formula ingredients are essential to cellular regeneration in the GI tract, tissue repair, and removal of toxins.

G's Formula Research Recap - Fact #2
This study also noted a significant decline in f***l dry matter in the horses fed a higher amount of G’s Formula, indicating a possible protective mechanism for horses at risk for intestinal impactions.
A second study found that horses consuming G’s Formula had decreased f***l waste and a lower amount of f***l dry matter. This means that horses on G’s Formula are better able to digest their feed and are drinking more water, both of which greatly reduce the likelihood and severity of impaction colic.
G's Formula Research Recap - Fact #1
Research found evidence for the use of G’s Formula as a prokinetic feed supplement for horses. G's Formula encourages regulated gastrointestinal motility, allowing for more efficient feed digestion and improved nutrient absorption. When food moves too fast through the GI tract, your horse may have diarrhea or even normal manure production, but nutrients aren’t being absorbed as they should be. When food moves too slow, horses are at risk of impaction colic.

When you think 'Cushings,' you probably think of a long thick coat, an inability to regulate temperature, muscle wasting and many other symptoms.
Well, we are here to tell you that this stunning coat is G's. He has cushings and he has been on no medication for over 2 years now. In the past he was on Pracend, but after a drug reaction he had to be taken off of it. Now, he is on Hedgerow to support his endocrine and lymphatic systems. That's it. No muscle wasting. No problems with moderating his temperature. No thick coat. Just a normal horse.

With the current heatwave affecting much of Western North America, are you monitoring your horses' water intake? If you are noticing that they aren't drinking enough, here are some tips to help improve their consumption:
1. Make sure that their water tubs are kept clean and the water is refreshed regularly.
2. Add electrolytes to their water (some are flavored to help encourage drinking).
3. Ensure they have access to a clean salt lick or add salt to their feed.
4. Feed some wet food such as soaked hay cubes or beet pulp.
5. Add G's Formula to their feeding program as it has been proven to increase water consumption. (Learn more at https://www.gsorganicsolutions.com/resources/gs-formula-research)

It's hard not to love the idea when they're both less expensive and have more affordable shipping!
Many of us have dealt with allergies so severe that we have had to resort to using a steroid to control the symptoms.
Knowing that we are only masking the problem alongside the concern of the side effects from the steroids is enough to lose sleep over. But what if you could find a solution to the actual problem, instead of masking the symptoms? Not only would your horse feel better, but you would too.
"I have a horse who has battled with extremely bad allergies for a
long time. They would usually flare up in the dry dusty heat that we get in our area, and as much as I hated it, he was living on a dose of Dex 3-4 times per week.
I was told to try spirulina by a few people and I try to source all my supplements to local BC companies. I was really hoping that Spirulina would work for him, or at least help give him a little relief.
Since finding G’s Spirulina he hasn’t needed a single dose of Dex!
The spirulina tablets are working so well for him that I have been sharing my experience with friends who also have horses with respiratory issues and those that have tried it have also had really good results!"

Mr. G is having a the time of his life frolicking in the snow this morning!! Do you have snow where you live? Post a photo of your horse in the snow in the comments!!
It seemed that you all wanted the cookie recipe, so here we go!
You will need: A baking sheet, parchment paper, a knife, a firm mixing/spreading tool, a rolling pin and/or a second baking sheet, a measuring cup, a large mixing bowl, either a food processor or blender, and either just your oven, or your oven followed by a dehydrator.
Ingredients: 6 cups G’s Formula, 1/2 tsp salt (we use Himalayan salt), 3.5 cups of COLD water.
Notes: We use a half sheet when making the cookies (the ones that cover an entire rack in your oven), so if you are using a normal baking sheet (9x13”), just divide this recipe in half. Also- if you have a dehydrator, you can make them extra yummy- thats how we do them!
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit
Cover your baking sheet with parchment paper.
Put 6 cups G’s Formula in a food processor or blender until there’s no longer any large pieces of cabbage or carrot (I use the food processor for about 1 mins or blender for about 3 mins). ** see attached photo for ideal consistency.**
Put in a large bowl and mix in 1/2 tsp salt. Pour 3.5 cups of COLD water into the blended G’s, and very quickly mix until just combined. Working as quickly as possible, pour onto your baking sheet and spread out. Once spread out, place another piece of parchment on top and using either a rolling pin or another baking sheet, compress and even out the mixture. Then remove the top sheet of parchment, and cut to a desired size. Bake for 20 mins and then transfer to a dehydrator until dry (colour will change like ing the picture), or bake until dried out. **if you are only baking, they likely will not dry out completely. If this is the case, ensure that they are used within a decent time frame 🙂
Don’t forget to take some photos and tag us! Add the hashtag #GsHomemadeCookies so that we can find them all in one place!
Happy baking everyone!

The long story short of who we are, and what we do, is that we are horse people and we help horses.
This is the story of G, and how the company came to be...
I purchased G in November of 2007 for my daughter as her next dressage horse. For the first few years he was relatively healthy other than a recurring sinus infection that was eventually cured with several rounds of powerful antibiotics. By 2011 his health was deteriorating, he was having some mild colic episodes, recurring loose manure, and his work ethic was declining. He was put on several rounds of Omeprazole, Gastroguard, Sucralfate, and we tried many different hays, different vitamins, minerals, digestive aids, probiotics, Chiropractic, etc. Some made a bit of difference to his manure and diarrhea, but he grew more lethargic and unhappy. One day in 2013 he had foul discharge from one nostril, so we went to the hospital for suspected tooth infection. As it turned out he had abscesses throughout his sinus cavity, which took 4 ½ hours of surgery to clean up along with more antibiotics and pain meds.
Over the next few months the sinus healed, but his tummy got worse, and he had bouts of mild laminitis during the worst times. More ulcer meds, blood work, feed changes, but he was still not happy, was not rideable and started to look like an old worn-out horse. He had no topline muscle, a big bloated belly and poor coat. His bum and hind legs had to be washed every day. By November of 2015 we were out of options. He was obviously no longer enjoying life.
As a last effort, I started researching how the digestive system works, what it needs to be healthy, to rejuvenate cells, to absorb nutrients. Then I started researching into organic whole foods that provide the essential nutrients to support these functions, and heal the obviously damaged digestive tract. In early December I took him off everything except for hay and water, and started testing some foods on him a bit at a time. Interestingly, he was eager to eat them.
Within a week, his tummy was settling down. Very little belly kicking, shooting diarrhea stopped, but his manure was still a bit loose and quite smelly. I think back on it as toxic waste coming out! Within 3 weeks, G had some light back in his eyes, was more alert and energetic and tummy was less bloated. He was far more comfortable on his feet. I was pretty excited to see some positive results, so researched some more, added a few more foods, and by the end of two months G was looking fantastic. His tummy was almost 100%!
At this point my daughter started some light work with him. He was very unfit and stiff after so many years of not working, but over the course of a month was starting to get back to his old self. By 6 months he was full of beans, bright eyed and enjoying life again.
During this time, a few friends saw the changes in him and wanted to try it on their horses. We also put our other horses on it. Soon word spread, so we thought we’d do a study trial. Horse after horse improved. Tummy issues gone, negative behaviours gone, soft and supple under saddle, and all relaxed and happy.
The opportunity to help so many horses with similar issues led us to the creation of G’s Formula.
Fast-forward to 2019; G’s Formula research is still ongoing, and we added a new product: G’s WIRX. WIRX (pronounced “works”) means many things to us, but most importantly it is a solution to insulin resistance which could have possibly saved our horse Liam many years ago, who had severe insulin resistance. For him, his IR resulted in recurrent laminitis despite being on a very strict low sugar & starch diet and having appropriate exercise. Had this product been available when he was still with us, it may have saved his life.
G’s WIRX did now start with an idea to solve IR. Initially we were looking to create a low sugar/starch wet feed to use in place of beet pulp or hay cubs for horses who needed to be on a strict diet. At that time, we discovered some research on both humans and rats using cranberry to lower insulin levels. Of course, this got us thinking. We took blood from our horse (Suzie) who is IR, and started her on Cranberry powder. After 30 days her insulin levels had dropped, so we consulted a veterinarian, who agreed to run a trial with some of her clients horses who were confirmed IR horses. Fast forward 3 months, and we discovered that some of the horses just weren't showing the drop in insulin levels that we wanted, and their glucose levels were still high. We did some more research, and decided to add in cinnamon. Sure enough, all of the horses started showing a significant glucose drop, and their insulin levels came down to normal levels. Since then, many horses lives have been saved by G’s WIRX. One, specifically, was about to be euthanized, but her owners decided to try one last thing... and now, she is happy, comfortable, and being ridden for the first time in years!
Hopefully in the year to come we will have more products on the way, along with additional research to help even more horses in the future.
