Wise Equine is an ambulatory equine practice operated by Dr. Brittany Wise in partnership with Nagel & Co servicing Rocky View, Calgary and the surrounding area. Services include lameness and pre-purchase examinations, dentistry, field surgery, general health, performance, digital X-ray and ultrasound. Reproduction services are provided in conjunction with Obrays equine services and include artificial insemination, pregnancy examinations, foaling, stallion collection and semen evaluation.

Mina Lancaster RVT

Mina was born and raised in Alberta where she obtained her Animal Health Technology Diploma from Olds College. In her last semester, she completed a practicum with Energy Equine where she began working with current Wise Equine veterinarian, Dr. Caroline Budziak.

While Mina’s love for animals has been evident from a young age, her passion for equine sports medicine and ambulatory care initially sparked after her first exposure to chuckwagon and chariot racing over 12 years ago. Since then, Mina has been motivated to work with both the equine athletes and their owners, to ensure the health and safety of all parties, as well as promoting sportsmanship within the equine sports community. Outside of the realm of sports medicine, Mina has a soft spot for sassy miniature horses and ponies, as well as a growing interest in neonatal care.

When not working, Mina spends most of her time outdoors with her dog, Monty, partaking in the many activities that the Alberta Rockies have to offer.

Dr. Caroline Budziak was born and raised in Ontario where she received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College. She has a diverse background in veterinary medicine but ultimately her dedication to continuous learning and passion for horses led her to a career in equine medicine. After completing a sports medicine internship at Energy Equine Veterinary Services in Alberta, she fell in love with the west and - along with her husband and two cats - decided to call it home. Dr. Budziak has special interests in diagnostic imaging and lameness, and draws inspiration from her professional background in dance to foster her passion for athletes - helping both horses and their people perform at their best. She does also truly love the all-encompassing role of a general practitioner and providing care to a diverse range of cases! Caroline is excited to practice alongside the remarkable veterinarians and staff at Wise Equine. When not working, you can find her playing sports, riding, and travelling at any opportunity she gets.

To our valued clients,

We are experiencing a shift of focus at Wise Equine. While we will still offer limited on-farm reproductive services, we no longer will be operating an off-site breeding facility. We will continue to provide and focus on high quality dentistry and progressive soundness and maintenance services. We still have a heated barn and arena available for haul-ins. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to another safe and exciting year with you and your horses!
