Dr. Caroline Budziak was born and raised in Ontario where she received her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College. She has a diverse background in veterinary medicine but ultimately her dedication to continuous learning and passion for horses led her to a career in equine medicine. After completing a sports medicine internship at Energy Equine Veterinary Services in Alberta, she fell in love with the west and - along with her husband and two cats - decided to call it home. Dr. Budziak has special interests in diagnostic imaging and lameness, and draws inspiration from her professional background in dance to foster her passion for athletes - helping both horses and their people perform at their best. She does also truly love the all-encompassing role of a general practitioner and providing care to a diverse range of cases! Caroline is excited to practice alongside the remarkable veterinarians and staff at Wise Equine. When not working, you can find her playing sports, riding, and travelling at any opportunity she gets.

To our valued clients,

We are experiencing a shift of focus at Wise Equine. While we will still offer limited on-farm reproductive services, we no longer will be operating an off-site breeding facility. We will continue to provide and focus on high quality dentistry and progressive soundness and maintenance services. We still have a heated barn and arena available for haul-ins. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to another safe and exciting year with you and your horses!

The University of Calgary is currently conducting a brand new study on equine parasitology and is looking for participants this summer!! We are trying to get f***l samples from a wide variety of locations all across the province. Please email us if you are interested in participating.
Just a reminder for your horses to qualify they can't be dewormed in the last 2 to 3 months.

We’ve also been busy with performance dentistry! It’s so much more than just floating sharp points. This horse could only chew with one side of her mouth prior to her incisor correction. I expect her straightness in the show ring will improve also 🙌

We discovered a bone chip in the hock of this young Warmblood filly. This is a common OCD problem termed a DIRT lesion standing for “Distal Intermediate Ridge of the Tibia”. With early detection and removal prognosis is excellent for full performance!

The 2023 breeding season is here!

We will once again be offering breeding services out of our location at Millennium Equestrian, just East of Carstairs.

If you're planning to breed with us this year, please get in contact with us to get your mare(s) booked in. If you are planning to bring semen in from the USA, we need a copy of your breeding contract(s) as soon as possible in order to apply for import permits. These can take up to 4 weeks to get CFIA approval.

The first (central) permanent incisors in a horse erupt at approximately 2.5 years and should push out the deciduous teeth. This horse needed help losing those baby teeth!

It’s been a great month! Today is the last day to book for the February promo - we are doing overflow into March. This guy had rostral hooks and a shredded tongue from sharp points and was so much happier after his dental visit 🤗🦷
