** IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**

It is with an extraordinarily heavy heart that we announce the passing of our little man Tribble. He sadly had a GI infection that was treatment resistant and he couldn't pull out of it. We have spent the last week really trying to come to terms with his sudden passing and remembering the good times we had together.

As Tribble was our last male at this point in time we will be closing our breeding indefinitely. Thank you so much to those who adopted one of our beautiful little hedgehogs, we appreciate you all so much. We will continue to support our current owners anyway we can, and encourage them to reach out with questions, concerns, or potential rehoming needs. Once again thank you all for coming on this ride with us ❤️🦔

We only have three littles left to go to some good homes! We love them so so much but we really need to make room in our second bedroom for the human baby! These ladies are all ready to go to great homes and we're currently cutting the rehoming fee way down to get them rehomed. Message me for details!!

Our goodest boy Mr. Prickles passed away in my arms this morning. He was about 5 or so. We had him for the last year of his life and he brought so much joy to us. We will miss his sassy huffing for no reason, his little wiggles of excitement when he wanted attention from Dad, and his very active little snoot. Bye Mr. P and thanks for everything ❤️

Important Announcement!:

Due to some unforeseen life circumstances and for the overall health of our Momma hogs- our current litters (Peapod's Halloween Litter and Poppy's Gamer Litter) will be our last for the foreseeable future.

Currently all of our hogs are very healthy and happy- and we want to keep it that way. Our priority is always our hedgehogs as they are first and foremost our pets and family!

We currently have 8 babies left for adoption- so if you've been debating getting one now is the time! They are ready to go to their forever homes for all the snuggles.

Thanks so much to our community and our hog parents for supporting us this last year. It has been so fun to see the littles grow up into beautiful hedgies!

Please send me a message if you are interested in adopting one of our remaining hoglets, we expect them to go fast!

Our first baby has been chosen for her forever home! We are so excited for Waffle (or as I call her, Waff Waffs lol) and her new Mummy! She'll be headed home in a few weeks.

Now that the babies are 2 weeks old and okay to handle, it's time to introduce them to the world! First up is Peapod and Mr. Prickle's second litter toppling our previous record with 7 hoglets! We'll be announcing the names of these little guys within a week, so stay tuned for the big reveal!

Raising 7 newborns is hard work! Sometimes you just gotta sploot!

Peapod and Poppy are both doing so well and the babies are nice and healthy (and vocal!). We'll have photo debuts in the coming week but for now we'll admire Pea's adorable little tail 😍

One of my favorite parts of being a hedgehog momma is learning how to deal with all of the different personalities of each hog. Take Tribble for example: eternal momma's boy, cuddle bug, and maybe part parrot. He likes to cuddle/ sleep on my shoulders all the time. If I move him, he gets mad lol.

Tribble is now a Poppa! Personalities in hedgehogs are highly genetic and so we are anticipating his babies to be big love bugs too! Message me for info on adoptions!

Our hedgie fam has grown today! Peapod had her babies right on time and as expected!

What we DIDN'T expect was our very own episode of "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant"....

This afternoon we heard odd sounds coming from Poppy's cage. POPPY ALSO HAD BABIES THIS MORNING! So both hedgehogs had little baby spike muffins this morning.

We are:

a) COMPLETELY SHOCKED. I had no idea Pop was preggers at all as she was only in with Tribble for one night and showed no signs of being pregnant.
b) COMPLETELY EXCITED! It's twice the work but twice the love that we get to send out into the world!

Hi there!

My name is Kassandra and I run Harbourside Hedgehogs, Nova Scotia's only registered breeder of hedgehogs!

Located in Dartmouth our hoglets are bred for temperament, health, and diversity. They are extremely socialized from a young age and love being with their humans!

We are currently taking a waitlist for our next litter due in August, and available to go to homes in October. * All photos are from our last litter!*

Our babies are $300 regardless of gender or colouring. They come home with a handmade snuggle sack for bonding, a week's worth of food, and a care guide for how to take care of your new spiky friend!

I couldn't bear to part with his little face 😭. Tribble is officially a permanent member of the herd 😍😍. We'll likely be breeding him with Poppy down the road.

He's a complete momma's boy and loves snuggles and kisses and his nightly hand fed piece of food. (loving known as Tribbies Kibbies). I love him sooo much

Did you know it's important to give your hedgehog a regular footbath? They help keep their feet clean and are good for overall health.

Mr. P loves to dip his toes in some nice warm water, not as much of a fan of the nail clipping after 😒

What do you call a group of baby hedgehogs? A HANDFUL The four little ones are getting big! Their eyes will be opening up this week and we're excited for the curious stage. Peapod is still being an amazing mom (up to but not limited to nursing the babies for an HOUR today) and she is really good about us handling the jelly beans. They are squeaky and soft and adorable! 😍🦔
