Saying goodbye is one of the most heart-wrenching yet profoundly meaningful aspects of our work. When a longtime patient crosses the rainbow bridge, it touches our hearts deeply, as we’ve had the privilege of being part of their journey through life.

Our mission has always been to walk alongside our patients and their families—from joyous beginnings to tender farewells. We are honoured to provide comfort, care, and support every step of the way.

One of our clients recently shared this with us:

"If I could give a rating higher than a 10 rating.... I WOULD. Sadly, my cat's recent appointment was his final one as the difficult decision on his overall health had to be made. As all good pet owners know from experience, making the decision and going through the process to have your pet put down (due to untreatable conditions of old age ) is an extremely difficult time. He was a patient of Russell Lake from the time we adopted him over 12 years ago. His care over the years by Dr. Barkai and team were excellent. The level of care, compassion and professionalism by the entire TEAM during this last appointment was unmatched, handled with grace and FULL respect to me, my wife and our beloved family member. Exciting news - we have launched a new partnership with the Canadian Animal Blood Bank, and we need your help finding superhero dogs to save lives!

On February 14th from 12pm-4pm we will hosting a blood donation clinic at our location!

The Canadian Animal Blood Bank is a non-profit organization, partnering with veterinary clinics since 1996 to facilitate canine blood donations from healthy dogs in order to provide quality life-saving blood products to dogs in need across Canada. The demand for these products in the East Coast has been increasing rapidly, and in recognizing this, the CABB is starting up in Nova Scotia!

We are beginning to recruit doggie heroes so that when the time comes to host a canine donor clinic, we are ready to go!
