A few days ago, we did an experiment with Deputy Chief Inspector, Paul Hunter. He sat outside for 15 minutes at -11 degrees to show the dangers of leaving your pets in the cold. 🥶
Immediately after, we chatted (in a warm room!) through the experiment, learned tips on how pets show us they're too cold, and what to do if you see an animal left outside during low temperatures. ❄
What is one thing our guest said that surprised you? Let us know in the comments. 🐾

Cold weather isn’t just tough on hoomans, but on our pets too. Yes, even those who love winter. ❄
So, we decided to put ourselves in our pet’s paws as much as possible. Deputy Chief Inspector with the Nova Scotia SPCA, Paul Hunter, sat outside for 15 minutes at -11 degrees to show the dangers of leaving your pets outside in the cold. After only five minutes, his body was fighting the drop in temperature. 🥶
Check out the full video below for tips on what to look for when your pet starts getting cold AND what to do if you find an animal in distress. ⬇
It’s always better to let them snuggle up inside!
If you see a pet left outside in the cold, remember to ACT. A-C-T. ❗

C – Collect information.
T – Time to call the Nova Scotia SPCA at 1-888-703-7722, email [email protected], or fill out the online form at: www.novascotiaspca.ca/reportcruelty.

What’s the first thing you do after you wake up from a good nap? Windsor here is ready to play! 🥹
If you haven’t seen our previous posts, our shelter pups are catching some much-needed Zzz’s every day from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. 🐕
Why the Quiet Hour?
Rest isn’t just a luxury – it’s a necessity for our furry friends. 💤
A little extra sleep has a lot of benefits such as muscle recovery, mental rest and mood regulation. This helps them stay happy, healthy, and ready to meet their new loving families!
How You Can Help:
🐾 Come visit our furry friends outside of nap time (only doggos, you can still get cat cuddles during that time)
🐾 Spread the word about this paw-some new initiative!
🐾 Donate to help us get this program up and running at www.novascotiaspca.ca/hitsnooze/
Together, we’re making life a little brighter (and a lot calmer) for our shelter dogs. Thank you for your support! 💙
📍 Remember, this is at the Dartmouth Shelter only at the moment.

PAWdcast December
And with that, the 2024 PAW’dcast season is over. 🥹 The newest, and last episode of this year, is out, and we think you should listen to it. Our host, Sarah, spills some secrets in this one. 🤫

Until then, if you haven’t listened to the PAWd’cast yet, there’s still time and about 22 episodes to catch up until Season 3. And let us know in the comments what topics you’d like to hear about in 2025! ⬇

Adopt Ella!
Ella is still looking for a home! She loves her humans and would prefer to be the only pet in the home, but may accept a younger dog friend. Like all new adoptees, Ella would like to find someone willing to give her the time she needs to adjust to her new surroundings. This lady has lots of love to give, and is still playful. She loves toys!
❤Maybe she will give her heart to you or she just might steal yours. ❤
