We are a veterinary clinic in downtown Dartmouth. We are a locally owned small animal veterinary clinic servicing the Downtown Dartmouth and surrounding areas.

We have three wonderful doctors; John Gillot, Bev MacDougall, and Lindsay MacNeil, as well as a small team of staff members eager to meet you and your pets! We provide numerous services, including but not limited to examinations, radiology, surgery, dental radiographs and oral surgery, parasite prevention and control, and diet options. We are open Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm. We are closed on the weekends.

Closure Warning ‼️
Vetwise Animal Hospital will be experiencing a couple of closures throughout August.

Monday Aug. 5th we will be closed for Natal Day. We will be opened the following day, Tuesday Aug. 6th at 8:30AM.

****IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE *****

The Metro Animal Emergency Clinic is experiencing extreme staff shortages during this holiday season.

The shortage of staff means the Metro Animal Emergency Clinic will NOT be providing service from January 1st at 8pm until January 3rd at 8am. We will be CLOSED for that 36 hour time period and your family veterinary hospital will be managing their own emergency care. They have been informed of this closure and have taken steps to provide coverage for their clients. Please check with your veterinary team ahead of time for their after hours emergency care instructions.

One further point of note : during this holiday season our staff have endured a high amount of verbal abuse. This is not acceptable in any form. We understand when your pet is sick it is very stressful but if you cannot manage basic civility please allow someone else to speak on your behalf.

October is Veterinary Technician month in Canada. These folks are the heart beat of any vet med team and keep the whole place afloat. They are incredibly talented, intelligent, empathetic and hard working.

It's animal health week! This year we are celebrating by focusing on the team work that goes into veterinary medicine.

Nobody panic, the round bright thing in the sky is just the sun!

Dad jokes aside, we just wanted to remind everyone to keep your fur friends cool on these hot days. Check pavement with your own foot (too hot for you, too hot for your pup's foot pads), don't go out for walks in the afternoon, and make sure there's lots of water available!

Just as a reminder we will be collecting recyclable bottles/cans ♻️ this morning at Vetwise from 9-12. We will be donating all proceeds to the NS SPCA and to the Canadian Red Cross!

In support of the families and pets affected by the NS wildfires, we will be accepting monetary donations this week for the Canadian Red Cross and the NS SPCA. Donations can be made in person or via e-transfer. We will also host a bottle drive on Sunday June 11th! Recyclable bottles/cans♻️ can be dropped off curb-side between 9am-12pm in front of the clinic. We will be there to assist! Thank you for your support ❣️

Bane

This is Bane. He’s boarding with us for the next week and a half. The only way to catch him on video is to take it in slow motion because he's 4 months old and just never slows down! Here’s hoping he fills your midweek kitten quota 😻

Every morning we wrap Buddy's food bowls in newspaper so he can "go foraging" for his food, and it has made such a difference in his eating habits! He loves his variety of foods and always digs right in. As you can see, he's also a cheeky little bird that sometimes likes to throw his food around!
