UPDATE: The puppies from this litter that have not yet been adopted have transferred to more southern communities in hopes of finding homes. If you are interested in adopting one of these pups, please check the BC SPCA website for their current location.
We've got 7 Labrador/Border Collie X puppies looking for a home! Together this group is a lively bunch full of personality and spunk. They spend their time playing and wrestling amongst eachother until they tucker themselves out and settle in for a nap. They love people and will offer a full body tail wag when you enter the room. They are looking for affection, cuddles and guidance to help them build confidence in this world that's brand new to them.
Based on their breed, these dogs will be smart and loyal companions, who will be eager to please. They will be looking for a family who can offer them the mental and physical exercise that they crave and they will reward your efforts with years of friendship.
If you are interested in meeting this group of siblings, please visit the South Peace BC SPCA between the animal viewing hours of 1pm-4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
📣 Puppy pawrents working on leash training! Watch this video treat for #nationaldogweek on how to train your puppy to walk on a leash. 🤔 Have you heard the term balanced training? Balanced training describes training that uses both rewards and aversive methods like physical punishment. That means balanced training uses tools and methods that cause pain and fear in dogs.
Is balanced training more effective? No. Compared to a reward-based approach, balanced training is not more effective.

Luke and Leia have really enjoyed meeting this new special friend who has sat patiently with them, slowly earning their trust over the past few days!
Luke and Leia feel like something very exciting might be happening today… 🐶🐶💕
Keep an eye on our page for updates coming soon!!!
With a little encouragement from her brother, Leia finally decided she could maybe trust her new shelter friends. 🥰🐶❤️
Leia is sure enjoying all of the pets and snuggles now that she feels safe with us!
Walk time with Luke!!! 🥰🐶❤️
This is Luke’s sister Leia 🐶❤️
She is more uncertain about her new friends at the shelter than her brother and is taking a bit more time to feel safe with us.
But that’s is totally okay and she is allowed to proceed at her own pace.
Our patient and caring team just continues to say hello and give her treats every time.
It’s heartwarming to see her starting the show a happy response when we approach. 🥰🐶❤️
Learning to love with Luke!
Luke is sure starting to enjoy all the pets and scritches with his new shelter friend!
He is now getting quite excited when he sees people coming to see him.
Next steps our team will introduce the walking harness and once he feels safe and comfortable he will be able to enjoy fun walkies with his new friends. 🐶❤️🥰
End of day update with Luke 🐶💗
This handsome boy is progressing well today!
It is important to let the dog control the interactions, they are free to choose to interact or choose to say no anytime they want.
Luke decided he would like to get much closer to his new friend by the end of day. 🐶❤️🥰
Luke - learning to love…
Did you know that the BCSPCA uses science based, fear free methods to help scared or traumatized animals recover.
Recently we posted two very scared dogs that were found in the Chetwynd area.
At first they would avoid any approach and growl to ask people to please stay away!!!
But we listen to dogs when they talk to us and we know they need our help to feel safe in the world.
We thought you might like to share their incredible journey towards learning to trust and feel safe with us. 💗
The first step is simple, every time the thing they are scared of (people) appears, a yummy treat is delivered then the person leaves.
People = something they really like and nothing bad or scary happens.
When this is repeated over and over the dog starts to become insterested and even happy to see us.
Before you know it they begin to feel safer and even feel brave enough to approach to take the yummy snacks from their new, not quite so scary friends.
Check our Luke’s exciting progress as he learns to trust. 🥰🐶❤️
Stay tuned for more updates!
