Community, our earth, and how we act within it Earthwise is a not-for-profit, charitable organization.

We are a community resource on ecological gardening, a model of best practice for sustainable horticulture, a public space where the community connects with nature. The Earthwise Society operates the Boundary Bay Earthwise Garden and Demonstration Food Gardens. We put people of all ages in touch with the earth, from grade school children learning about soil, biodiversity, wildlife stewardship and

resource conservation; to adults learning about ecological gardening, composting and growing food. The Earthwise Garden demonstrates that it is possible to have a healthy, sustainable, beautiful landscape without the use of chemicals. The Earthwise Demonstration Food Gardens puts the community in touch with food, where it comes from, how it grows, the ecological costs of getting it to our tables, and the importance of sustainable organic growing practices.

🌱🍋 Full circle moment! Back in early November, we held a Garden Buddies session focused on fruits, where we planted lemon seeds from a fresh lemon. One of our participants recently brought in her lemon plant grown from those very seeds! It was amazing to see how well it’s thriving!

Spring is around the corner and it’s the perfect time to start planning your dream garden! 🌸✨🌺

We’ll discuss seed selection, planting for pollinators, succession planting, and early spring gardening tasks, and we’ll share some ideas for fun seed varieties to grow this year- both edible and ornamental. Just before Christmas we had an amazing Garden Buddies meetup! 15 participants, including 2 new faces, joined us for a fun potluck and we created some festive arrangements. The weather was beautiful, so we got to harvest lots of materials right from the garden!

This week's Garden Buddies Meetup session was full of festive fun! We made beautiful winter centerpieces using materials harvested from the Earthwise Garden, along with some special touches brought in by our Garden Buddies from their own gardens. We also made clove orange pomanders and adorable mini wreaths. Thank you to for providing us with the cozy barn space! Last week, we hosted a popup market featuring fresh Earthwise produce and a Garden Buddies session at Kin Village! Attendees enjoyed making lavender sachets and painting rustic log ornaments. A fun and creative time for all. A big thank you to our volunteers who helped make this possible!

Festive Wreath and Swag Making Workshop!

Back by popular demand! Join us for a festive wreath or door swag making workshop on December 12th at 11 AM in the Earthwise Garden, Delta. Get creative with fresh sprigs, berries, and seasonal decor to craft a cheerful wreath or a smaller door arrangement to brighten your winter. Today this garden rabbit is being kind enough to eat the weeds out of the tile work for us! If you ever find that rabbits are being less polite than this one, try planting marigold, onion or garlic around your garden to discourage them from entering.
