This is so true. Thank you to all my clients for always being flexible and understanding that so much goes into the hauls and know your horse is the #1 priority.
I'd like to put forward a gentle reminder ✌️ that if you book a shared haul, it is exactly that. Shared hauls include other stops ⚠️ to pick up and drop off. This takes time. What Google Maps tells you is not super accurate ⌛️
Remember, trailer time 🚛 versus passenger car 🚘 time are two different things. Construction is immense everywhere, accidents, heavy traffic etc all need to be factored in.
I rarely stop for myself 🥴 to get a take out meal or a coffee. Thank goodness us horse girls are good at peeing 🤫 in the trailer if space allows! Stopping at restrooms would add more time ‼️
Checking horses, water, unforseen issues, non-loaders, poor trailer access, clients that are not ready 🙆♀️ meeting another trailer....all add to this.
I make trips as direct as possible 🚀 If there is an indirect route, I always let the client decide if they wish to proceed 🚦
Shippers work hard 🏃♀️ and it is not the most glamerous job. Before you judge 🦀 complain or behave in an ignorant 👿 manner....please remember you chose a shared haul and the price reflects this 💰If someone treats me poorly or doubts my judgement, they will be asked to move along 👣 Not to say that there has not been some crappy shippers that take milk runs - because for sure there has been 😒 But if you do your homework and don't cheap out, you could have a good experience ⭐️
And yes, I will overnight 💤 if needed at one of my wonderful pre-selected barns if I feel my daily allowed hours are nearing or will near. Clients are welcome 👍 to politely request a straight thru trip and Im happy to make it work if possible.
I also have an app called Life360. It is for my family to track me to help keep me safe. If a client ever doubts my route 🎯 whereabouts or stops - Im happy to share.
My fellow shippers work equally as hard 🙌 (at least the ones I know). And many of us, feel similar. Our personal lives often suffer
and finding a work / life balance 🙇♀️ is challenging.
Has anyone noticed 👀 how good, legal shippers are going away? More and more backyarders are popping up to make a quick buck and disappear. More scams and horror stories.
If you wish to avoid having to deal with an illegal backyarder, treat your shipper with apprection 🤗, respect and understanding - it helps us want to continue doing our job. I won't even get started about fuel and operating expenses 🤢 We shippers that operate above board and provide a safe ride for your horse ... are worth paying a little extra for, treating well 💯 and having some understanding 🌷
And to those that feel they want to be a shipper, do your research first 📔 There is alot more to this then "just driving horses around" 🙉
