Red Deer Dog Show, "Pro Handler" Tom & Goose the Brittany go for the win! 4 more points towards Gooses Show Championship. WD, BOS, BOW. Excellently done!

BIKEJORING, not a sport you would associate Brittany's doing, but in this case Amigo's Rebel Rebel (Sally & Benny) and Amigo's Space Oddity (Annie & Stan), owners Emily & David Hayes, won the BikeJoring Nationals with Emily Hayes on the bike. Heart and Hustle from two little girls!

I’m confused
On Saturday, Tom was doing shopping for the Teamsters Jaspers Relief Fund (47 members lost their houses). Some of the members requested certain items, that they really needed, and one was dog food. Who better to go shopping for dog food than us! LOL. We were going to shop local and we went to Pet Planet in Olds, we requested, Science Diet, and were told that didn’t care it because it had product in it that they didn’t believe belongs in their store, then we asked for Hill Bros, and then another kind of food, the answer was the same. Then I said, I also noticed their isn’t any Purina product. Their answer was, if you are looking for that kind of food, you should go to a VETS office, as they supply it, am I missing something, Vet’s recommend the food, but A Pet store doesn’t believe in in? What the heck! BTW, Pet Valu in Didsbury was very helpful, and they had all the Good Brands on their Shelves!

IT'S OCTOBER!, And that means Amigo Kennels is closing its bird doors for the entire month. We will let you know when we will re-open. In the meantime have a fantastic HUNTING SEASON, and have a blast with all your fantastic hunting dogs! (Tom & Georgie on opening day of Sharptails)

What a exciting weekend for 22 month old GCH Amigo's I'm Just Me, Charley FDJ and owners Debbie Shepherd-Hill and Spencer Shepherd, Charley rocked the field winning the CPDC Amateur for a 4 pt major, and then turning it around and winning the Northern Pointing Dog Club's Amateur for a 3 pt Major. We couldn't be prouder of this amazing team. And on another note, Kinwashkly Amigo's Muddy River at the age of 8 months made her debut in the Puppy stakes of both Club, finishing 4th the first day, and moved up to 2nd on the second day. (no pictures of Muddy!)

Kinwashkly Amigo Muddy River, is starting to prepare herself for the upcoming field trial and field test weekends in the Fall. Muddy was a little insulted that her brother "Farmer" was allowed to run in the last test and she wasn't allowed, so she dragged out Tom from the house, into the wet cold weekend, and said "Train Me, Mister.", and so they did, and they became a team!

You just have to love the 'old' dogs, Tom & Johnny having a moment while watching the Stanley Cup Final, the outcome wasn't what they both were cheering for, but the love was there!!!!

After three months of either trials, tests or shows, Amigo Kennels has decided that this weekend is going to be a 'down' weekend. We are closing the doors, bringing out the golf clubs, and also concentrating on our neglected homestead! See you all in a few weeks

May 25 & 26, 2024, the CPDC held their annual field trial, due to the generosity of Jim & Sue Deyell allowing us access to their grounds. WE had a good weekend putting on ton’s of miles, and watching Miles! Our highlight of the weekend was GCH Amigo’s Spot On Miss Annie FDJ, after a year of not running, due to a injury at a previous event in 2023, where she ripped her ACL off, and had to endure surgery to be able to walk again. Never in wildest thoughts did I ever think I would enter Annie into another field trial, but low and behold, off Annie set out on the grounds and never looked back, maintaining two clean finds in the process. Was she a little slow at the end, yes, was she sore at the end, NO!

May 18 – 20, 2024, we travelled up north to attend the Northern Pointing Dog Club & the GSP Club of Alberta. We had one fun judging assignment to take on, the rest of the events (except puppy as we don’t have one old enough to run! ) ), we were able to run some of our dogs.
A huge shot out to Raili obtaining her DC, very impressive, Goose at 15 months getting his first adult placement, and the three brothers going 1, 2 & 3 in the Derby

Amigo Kennels is very proud to announce that CH Amigo's Whitehead Yellow Rose FDJ & CH Amigo's I'm Just Me, Charley FDJ, both obtained their GRAND CHAMPIONSHIPS on the weekend, we are so proud of these young dogs, and their owners who are willing to campaign their dogs, Cathie & Dave Whitehead, & Spencer & Deb Shepard, we thank you. To our wonderful handlers we couldn't do it with out you, Jennifer Evans & Pat Kopec, you two always make those dogs shine. Also, we need to mention that Amigo's Putting On the Miles JH FDJ, obtained another 4 points towards his Show Championship.

Amigo Kennels packed up all their belongings this weekend to attend the CPDC trial, 4 trailers, quads, Generals, 10 dogs, birds, and even the kitchen sink (it was in one the trailers). The weather was cool, not to hot not to cold, just like the 3 bears, it was just right for running dogs. All the dogs performed well, and positives were found in all their runs.
Amigo’s Cupids Variation JH (Goose) won the Open Puppy (9 dogs) and the Open Derby (12 dogs)
CH Amigo’s I’m Just Me, Charley FDJ WDJ placed 4th in the Open Puppy (Debbie Shepard)
GCH Amigo’s Promise Me Billy Lee FDJ, placed 4th in the Open Shooting Dog Stake, handled by Tom

Congrats to all the placing dogs, and especially to all those who competed, it's always a fun time. And a special thank you to all the Judges and volunteers who made this event happen.

Last weekend we travelled to Vancouver Island to attend the VPDC trial (April 5 – 7, 2024), I travelled light taking only two dogs with me, along with Cathie Whitehead (2 dogs) & Debbie Shepard (1 dog). Three people, 5 dogs, a big 8 foot truck, big back seat, what more would you need? Should be plenty of room! We had a great time bouncing from one field to another, attending a trial, a Field Test and a water test.

CH Amigo’s I’m Just Me, Charley FDJ, came 2nd in the Open Derby & 2nd in the Open Puppy, and obtained some more letter behind his name as a WDJ, o/h Deb Shepard
CH Neumansown Amigo Mustang Sally FD, obtained her WDJ title
Fun was had by all with a little “Macgyver” happening along the way

We had a blast at Three River Bird Dog Club in Kennewick Washington, Zeke with 5 clean finds came in 4th in the Open, and Goose with 3 clean finds came in 3rd in the Derby, fun times

Successful weekend at the AKC Three Rivers Bird Dog Club Hunt Test in Kennewick, Washington. We are so proud of these two brothers showcasing their talents in the Junior Hunter category.
CH Amigo’s I’m Just Me, Charley FDJ completed 3 qualifying scores. Handled by Deb Shepherd.
Amigo’s Cupid’s Variation completed all 4 qualifying scores in style to obtain his title of Junior Hunter. Handled by Kim Williamson.
Special shout out to Xenaran Journey to Sassenach Raili for getting her first leg in the Senior Hunter category. Handled by Tom Doherty.
