This is the latest announcement and update on the new requirements for travelling to the USA with your dogs as of August 1 st 2024.

To provide greater flexibility to the requirements for dogs coming from dog rabies-free or low-risk countries, when the rule goes into effect on August 1, 2024 [at 12:00am ET], dogs that have spent the prior six months only in dog rabies-free or low-risk rabies countries will be able to enter the United States with a CDC Import Form online submission receipt as acceptable documentation. This form can be filled out the day of travel and the receipt can be shown to airlines and border officials as a printed copy or by phone. The receipt will be good for travel into the U.S. for six months from the date of issuance, including multiple entries. All dogs entering the United States must have a microchip and be over six months of age.

It’s going to be a very hot week folks. If it’s hot for you, it will be even hotter for your pets.
Best plan is to keep them indoors while it is very hot outside. And for goodness sakes, do not leave them in your vehicle unattended.

Your pets want to be with you. They will be safer and cooler inside with you, where they can spend their time doing what they do best: being your best friend and companion.

Tick Finder - Expert Level!!🔍
Ticks can vary in size and colour throughout their life cycle and between species. Some are almost impossible to spot with the naked eye. This little fella hitched an unwanted ride on a cat's ear this week. It was barely 1 mm!

To help prevent your pet from any unwanted hitchhikers, don't forget to pick up your flea/tick preventatives!

Social Media and the effects on the Veterinary Profession
(Adapted from NOMV-Not One More Vet)

Recent events have prompted us to bring to light the effects of Social Media and the effects on the veterinary profession . We understand that stressful situations can cause a person to say and do things that they may not normally say or do. However what we want to bring to light goes beyond that.
A person or persons who intentionally sets out to manipulate or cause harm through verbal or written attacks on social media. People who seeks power and control through abusive tactics. Facts are misrepresented , completely omitted and the language is abusive with the intent of public humiliation, shaming, threats and demands. Inflammatory remarks designed to rile up the masses to join in.

Somehow the measuring stick for veterinary profession is much different than other profession and for some reason, some people think public smear campaigns are ok. It isn’t ok, it is abuse in the most cowardly fashion.

We are people , with names and we are a close community of professionals. We share information and collaborate with others in our field. We care about the daily impact that cyber bullying and verbal abuse has on our profession.
We are not in this for money, if there is a magical way we could live for free , we promise we would . That is not our reality , nor is it the reality of anyone in any other profession.

Veterinary Hospitals serve their communities by creating jobs, and protecting animals and people from diseases. Veterinarians and supporting staff are people with families, mortgages and debts like others. Often we work long hours and are overworked, underpaid as compared to our human counterparts. We are often accused of doing our jobs for the money . We spend our days acting as shock absorbers for our clients' emotions. Compassion fatigue is a real struggle in our profession , we go home physically and mentally drained every single day. It does take its toll. Our profession has among the highest su***de rate.

We must preserve and protect this profession because animals are such an important part of our society.
