This is my life. Derp, who was born a bit derpy but now seems to have normal goat intelligence 🤣

There has been lots of activity with the goats in this winter, with several born. Derp has emerged as a likely candidate for our future farm stud! Hotsauce (daughter of Saucebox) is coming along well. Nibbler found a home as a pet goat, he was rejected by his mother when he was born (she had twins and accepted one). This winter we also added Surge in a trade from a farm friend, and Totes (Totes my goat!) from someone who had to rehome her due to moving.

We now have 5 females: Annie, Saucebox, Hotsauce, Witch and Totes which means next year's Goat News may include updates on 5- to a highly unlikely 10 (please not 10!!!) babies!

Farming can be hard. Today we had to euthanize a pig with an injury. He had never fared well, but as he gained weight he got progressively worse (a common thing for farm animals). Despite the loss of income, and the loss of life, we know we did the best we could and are happy he had the time he did in our little wooded pasture. Today was also a first for our Homestead as Cohen (7) witnessed the “full work” of the farm for the first time.
