It’s pumpkin season and there are so many ways to feed this fiber-rich superfood! 🎃🍂

After removing the seeds, steam or bake your pumpkin until the flesh is soft. Scoop out the flesh and freeze in ice cube trays to use all winter! (If you buy canned pumpkin to feed to your pets, make sure to only buy 100% pumpkin - preferably organic - NOT pie filling, which can cause GI problems).

You can also feed raw, unsalted seeds one at a time for perfectly sized, magnesium-rich training treats. Feed up to 1/4 tsp per 10 pounds of body weight, spread throughout the day.

Adolescence occurs between six months and 18 months of age—a time when guardians typically struggle the most with their dogs. Some guardians are so overwhelmed and underprepared for this developmental stage of their dog’s life, they choose to surrender the dog to a local shelter or rescue group. In a recent study published in the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science found that the majority of the surrendered dogs (47.7 percent) ) were between 5 months and 3 years of age (M.D. Salman,John G. New, Jr.,Janet M. Scarlett,Philip H. Kass,Rebecca Ruch-Gallie &Suzanne Hetts, 2010)

The neurobiology of adolescence is fascinating, with some key events that alter both the structure and function of the brain.

During canine adolescence, changing s*x hormones effect the animals stress responses. Adolescent dogs have a decreased ability to process information they are receiving from the environment including the presence of dogs, vehicles, people, or really anything around them. They behave in ways that might feel frustrating or upsetting for the dog’s person.

The connectivity between the frontal cortex (responsible for decision making) and amygdala (responsible for emotional processing) decreases, resulting in less behavioral control. We see increased risk taking and more sensitivity to fear.

So what does this mean? This could mean that what was once no big deal to the dog now feels scary; what was once easy to do is now stressful; what once made sense is now confusing. At times, the world can feel like ‘too much’ for the adolescent dog.

As your puppy undergoes this transition into adulthood their inner world is intense, even chaotic. Many pet owners experience an increase in undesirable behavior and find themselves becoming increasingly frustrated. In turn, our own frustration and impatience can cause us to act unpredictably. This adds to our puppy’s inner turmoil. When the inside and the outside are both unpredictable it can be difficult for our dogs to adjust.

If you have an adolescent dog, what can you do? You can give your dog the time and space to observe what is going on around them when on leash at a distance away from the activity when possible. You can give your dog long walks to sniff and explore in nature, giving their brain time to decompress. You can offer your dog a quiet space to sleep so that they can consolidate memories effectively. You can continue training various skills, breaking them down into easier steps that can be generously reinforced.

By understanding what our adolescent dog is experiencing we gain greater compassion and understanding. When we approach adolescence with patience we create a world that is predictable and gentle so our puppies grow up to be their best adult selves.

Glace pour chiens
Ingrédients :
2 bananes mûres
1 tasse de yaourt grec simple
1/2 tasse de beurre de cacahuète (non sucré et sans xylitol)
1/4 de tasse d'eau
Instructions :
Dans un mixeur ou un transformateur de nourriture, combinez bananes, yaourt grec, beurre de cacahuète et eau.
Mélangez jusqu'à ce que lisse et crémeux.
Versez le mélange dans des bacs à glaçons ou des moules en silicone.
Congeler pendant au moins 2 heures ou jusqu'à ce qu'il soit solide.
Sortez les glaçons et servez à votre chien en guise de friandise.
Remarques :
Assurez-vous que le beurre de cacahuète est exempt de xylitol, car il est toxique pour les chiens.
Vous pouvez remplacer le yaourt grec par un yaourt sans produits laitiers si votre chien est intolérant au lactose.

The aerosols generated by mopping with commercial-grade lemon🍋- or pine🌲-scented chemicals can be inhaled deep into the lungs 🫁 (by both humans and animals) causing irritation and leading to health issues 😷 like allergies, and more.

So can you have a clean floor AND clean air? Also yes! 🥳 Researchers found that use of an air purifier during mopping can significantly reduce the concentration 📉 of harmful aerosols.

⚠️Attention à certaines friandises!😱

Un chien a été hospitalisé à la clinique pour perte d'appétit et perte de poids. Il présente des lésions rénales imputables à la consommation régulière de friandises à base de viande de canard séchée.
Ces friandises vendues en animalerie sont importées de Chine et pour des raisons que nous ne maitrisons pas, elles provoquent des lésions rénales potentiellement fatales.
Si vous souhaitez récompenser votre petit compagnon, n'hésitez pas à nous demander conseil et évitez ce genre de produits potentiellement toxiques.

Le chien hospitalisé est rentré chez lui et va plutôt bien, nous le suivrons régulièrement au cours des prochains mois pour s'assurer que ses lésions rénales régressent.

🐾 Le chien doit avoir séjourner au Canada durant les 6 derniers mois.

🐾 Remplir le formulaire d’importation du CDC (en ligne, en anglais) et joindre une photo récente de votre chien : https://cdc-786687.workflowcloud.com/forms/090dc543-7b2f-4538-b2c7-2919d12ecc73 *doit être rempli par le propriétaire du chien, vous n’avez plus besoin d’une signature d’un vétérinaire. Peut être rempli la journée même.
Une fois complété, ce formulaire est valide pour une durée de 6 mois : maintenant et pour les autres entrées de cette période.

🐾 Votre chien doit avoir été vacciné pour la rage depuis plus de 28 jours et avoir une micropuce valide (détectable avec un lecteur universel, idéalement reconnue sous les normes ISO). La micropuce doit avoir été implantée avant l’administration du vaccin de rage. *Si cela n’est pas le cas, vous devrez redonner le vaccin de rage en même temps que l’implantation de la micropuce. Cependant, dans ce cas, le délai de 28 jours pour le vaccin de rage ne sera pas considéré.

🐾Vous devez avoir un certificat de vaccin en anglais avec le numéro de micropuce inscrit.

🐾Votre chien doit être âgé de plus de 6 mois pour entrer aux États-Unis.

🐾 Votre chien doit avoir l’air en bonne santé à son arrivée.

Dog Ice Cream🐶🍦
Ingredients:
1 banana
4 tablespoons peanut butter (dog friendly)
12 ounces plain or vanilla yogurt
Instructions:
Blend all ingredients together in a blender. Spoon the mixture into mold, and freeze for about two hours before popping out of the mold and serving.
Keep any treats that are not immediately eaten in a freezer-safe ziplock bag or container for up to three weeks.
