The last appointment of the season!
These 3 dogs, Hazel, Dino and Rip came together for their First Time Sessions.
I had forewarned Sheila that the water was cold and since they weren’t avid swimmers, it might be more beneficial to build water confidence in the warmer spring season.
Mum and dad said they were very keen and committed to this and wanted to proceed.
Well, am I ever glad they did!!
They were troopers! All 3 dogs and their humans! What an amazing team! So motivated and dedicated! Mum stripped into her shorts and tshirt to be ready to go in if needed. She was halfway in and out for the hour and a half session! They all built confidence on the ramp first and did so well.
Hazel progressed to the baby dock and nailed it! Dino, a bit more of a thinker, took his time to decide but when he did, it was a huge jump from the ramp. Rip, the youngster was doing great just building confidence on the ramp and having fun.
Just out of curiosity, we tried Hazel off the official dock and she just went for it!! (Video in comments)
So much fun today!

Our very own Team Luna and Duck are on their way to Springfield, Missouri to compete in NADD, North America Diving Dogs National Championship!!
We wish them safe travels and the best of luck as they embark in this exciting competition October 24-26!

AIR RETRIEVE DRY LAND TRAINING
Instructor Kim LePoidevin is offering an off-site, foundation groundwork class for the Air Retrieve Discipline.
This seminar will be Sunday Nov 3rd, 1pm-5pm
Air Retrieve is a dock diving discipline where your dog jumps off the dock to catch a stationary bumper suspended from the AR Rig that has the ability to move further out from the dock in increments of one foot.
This seminar will, step by step, teach the behaviours and motions needed to prepare you and your dog on the dock. She will cover tracking, watch it , catching , grabbing and retrieving the bumper.
Classes will be max 8 and $150 per dog or $100 for audits (watch, no dog), no max.
For supplies, you need a bumper if you have one if not, one can be supplied, long line, collar or harness and soft treats not too small as a dog needs to see these on the ground.

Despite the downpour, on Finnlae’s First Time session, she braved the dive off the training dock! Looks like she had a good time! Thank you Pooch Pool’s diving judge Scott for manning the session and to Finnlae’s mum for weathering the storm ☔️
