Well, with the snow the way that it is at the beginning of February, I may end up postponing deliveries until it lightens up, or until March - April when things get warmer.

I don't want to risk my rides in this weather, even with good snow tires the environment is unpredictable and drivers can sometimes be a bit of an ass when they disregard non-ideal road conditions.

So if anyone has scheduled any deliveries of birds, or are wanting to come pick-up or see some birds. Today might not be a good day, nor any other day if this weather keeps up. But I will keep the page updated on everything and when it will be safe and ideal to resume operations.

I'm still taking inquiries for potential adoptions so that business is still available.

I know I've been lacking in updated on *all* of my breeding program. Herr is a quick update before I talk about the images:

~~~
● I got ClearFlight and Boo in the one Breeding Cage Section, so whenever Boo starts laying eggs is when things for them start to sail.
(Yellow Series (Sf)Clearflight Opaline x Blue Series Greywing (Sf)Dark or Violet Rec. Pied)
● Princess and Ghost are sitting on 3 fertile eggs, but I'm a bit worried about the 3rd egg, however I'll give it a couple more days and see what happens.
(Blue Series Cinnamon × Blue Series Ino)
● Halloween and Teggun are currently my biggest breeding pair as they're the last of their entire linage. And they're sitting on 3 fertilized eggs, which should all hatch this week upcoming. And I hope these two will be good parents when the chicks come.
(Blue Series Greywing/Dilute (Sf)Violet (Sf)Yellowface Type 2 Opaline x Blue Series Greywing/Clearwing)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Onto the images, this is the clutch of Mist and HummingBird (Blue Series Greywing/Dilute (Sf)Goldenface (Sf)Spangle // Cinnamon x Yellow Series (Sf)Grey (Sf)Clearflight Opaline Cinnamon // Greywing), 4 babies for this round, which I'm great with. And so far I can only identify 1 Cinnamon baby (chick 2), so that may be their only Cinnamon offspring. 2 things I'm hoping for from this clutch are as follows:

1. A male (Adoption reasons)
2. A yellow series female who is visual Greywing or Greywing/Dilute, as I want a specific female for Drake when his time to pass on Dre's linage comes. Even if he ends up being 1½ - 2 Years by the time his future mate comes of breeding standard.

I'm sure obviously the male bit will be met, it's a 1 in 4 chance, maybe 2 - 3 out of 4. We'll see, the last baby just hatched today. So, 6+ weeks of mystery to go.

Results are in, we are clean! And got lucky.

This is the Adopt Flock, budgies I intend to adopt out to potential bird parents if they're interested in an older flock.
..

One thing I was super worried about is this whole gang being infected with Break and Feather as their prior cage-mates were tested positive for Beak and Feather, only on a transient-level. To know not a single one has contracted it, makes me super happy. And we're 20% closer to having all the birds disease-tested. I have 30 more budgies that need the testing. So all in due time.

Now I just need all these babies to recieve a Wellness Exam by my Vet, and I'll get these guys some Info Sheets that I'll be posting hopefully by mid-February.
..

I'm gonna remove Higgins from the Adopt Flock temporarily and see if he and Trouble Maker get along and become a potential breeding pair. If not, well. He'll go up for adoption.

OK I got the email. And I can register TBFA on the bands. Now I need 10 numbers to go on the bands which I have no clue how that even works. So now I have to ask about what number I can register.

So if anyone has any ideas on a 10-digit number. Comment them below

I may or may not get lucky in the next week or so.

Since I never ordered bands from the AACC website before. I want to get bands that have Codes on them. What the codes imply, idk. The AACC is vague on what the Code is. As I look to get bands that can have either "TBFA" or "CEC" on them so all my bird's can be linked back to either the Page, or me directly.

I sent a question email yesterday so I have to be patient on the responce time, so in the meantime I can focus on getting the flock disease tested in the next 2 weeks (Mostly saving the funds.)

I hope I'm able to Band this year

And as I stated yesterday, I registered with the AACC. And here is the receipt proof. I’m now just waiting on my membership card, and book. I’ll now be covered for the entire year + I can order my bands once I get some advice from some fellow breeders about what bands are preferred. As I wouldn’t mind getting some custom bands that will have The Budgie Flock Aviary (TBFA) on the bands, however I am more than accepting on the idea of my First, Middle, and Last name being the initials (CEC).

I’ll be able to enter shows to this year now that I can get official bands to band my birds. So yay!

Happy New Years!!!

Boy, 2024. What a year that was. Full of joys and adventures, new experiences, and all the ups and downs that came along with it.

I’m excited for 2025, I have big ambitions I want to do to elevate myself, and my birds. I dont have much to really say in terms of an opening, but I would like to make some announcements, and give some updates into everything in regards to the birds, and the page.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Updates:
~ A new disease was caught in my flock, and sadly it’s one of the major diseases:
Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBDF)
2 of my budgies who were potential adopts tested positive for the disease prior to being adopted. So now I have to keep an eye out for not only Bordetella Avium, but also now Beak and Feather Disease.
My vet told me both cases are transient infections, as she saw no clinical symptoms when both birds were being tested at the Wellness Exams. To re-test for the disease is a 90-day period from the 1st initial test, so I wont be re-testing till between March and April.
I’m getting the flock mass tested in the middle of January, so I will get to find out by the end of January who has what disease(s), or lack there of. And go from there.
~ I broke my non-breeding rules in 2024. They were circumstantial, breeding Sea X Cinnamon Bun, and Tweety X Blue Raspberry.
Im breeding Sea because she wouldn’t stop wasting her seeds during her ovulation, now her and Cinnamon Bun are rearing a solo chick. I also noticed their genetics are incompatible as they seem to have a really high Dead In Egg rate. So once their chick is a fledgling, I’ll be shifting them around to different partners.
Tweety I bred because I needed to know what mutations he possesses as he is a very peculiar case. And so far, as he and Blue Raspberry are raising 3 chicks. I have found the following:
Tweety is split for Blue, and he has Spangle in his genes. So I think due to his colour mutations, he may be a (Df)Spangle coupled to a (DF)Dom. Pied, or Clearflight. I have to wait for the chicks to develop their body plumage in order to determine which pied is inherited. And also see what other mutation may have been inherited outside of the pieds.
~ I quit the breeding of English Budgies. They have been the biggest hassle and heart-break amongst the two types I own. Not to mention how cut-throat and expensive the English breeding hobby is. So I am stepping out of that niche of breeding, and I’m strictly going to be focusing on the breeding of the American’s. I work easier with them anyways in terms of the conservation of the rare mutations + the breeding of healthy bloodlines. I will still continue to love and cherish the English I currently have as pets.
~ I have registered with the AACC, and will seen be inquiring to purchase bands for my future bred-forms for show, and identification on my birds.
~ NEW POLICIES! Aka; I just took out the two policies I couldn’t enforce and replaced them with policies I can enforce.
*** NOTICE ABOUT THE “Vet Fee” POLICY ***
I intend to revise this policy in the future as I find ways to reduce costs. If I had to do the cheaper disease-testing through Abbotsford myself, my Travel Fee would be the same price as my vet Fee as I do not drive yet, and I still require Public Transportation until I can start driving on my own. So this is for potential adoptee’s who want a disease-tested bird (or birds), you will have to pay the fee with 0 ways to negotiate.
If anyone have any questions or concerns about the policies. Feel free to message me, and I will happily answer the questions and discuss the concerns.
~ I’m holding off adoptions with the non-tested birds until I can get the flock disease tested, and figure out who is adoptable, and who needs to stay behind for treatment and re-evaluation. However I still have a wait list in place so if you’re looking for something specific at a specified adopt time, then I can add you on the list (You will still need to adhere to the 12-Week Policy for fledglings, that policy hasn’t changed and I don’t intend to revise it anytime soon.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sorry for not having a ton to say. With everything that happened in 2024 I guess I’m just focusing on getting things back in order and trying to stabilize operations. But things will get back to normal, i do promise that.

So in the meantime, have a happy New Years again, to everyone.

DID YOU KNOW? 🤔

As a responsible parront you should disease test your birds.
Disease can be caused by many factors such as poor living conditions and sanitation, contamination within the household, but also from external sources such as wildlife, visitors, etc...
It is, therefore, essential that we test our birds, not only for their own well-being but also to prevent the possible spread of disease to other birds they may come into contact with during their lifetime.
Parrots, in the wild, are prey animals. They retain some of their natural survival instincts even in captivity.
Parrots will hide any signs of illness for as long as possible in order to avoid appearing weak and vulnerable in the eyes of potential predators. Often by the time we become aware that our parrot is unwell, the illness has possibly become progressively worse and harder to treat with less chance of recovery.

Several examples of avian diseases are as follows:
Proventricular Dilatation Disease (PDD)
Psittacosis (Chlamydia psittaci)
Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD)
Aspergillosis
Polyomavirus

General signs of illness are:
unusual droppings (abnormal colour/consistency)
ruffled feathers
sleeping more than usual
cloudy eyes
reduced appetite
drinking significantly more or less than usual
open-mouthed breathing, or abnormal sounds (e.g. clicking, wheezing) while breathing
changes in vocalisation
weight loss
discharge from the eyes, nose or mouth
injury, bleeding, enlargement or swelling of the body
vomiting or regurgitation

Birds have very delicate systems, so early diagnosis is imperative and could save your bird’s life. If you notice any of the above signs, please consult your avian vet immediately.

I do not tolerate scammers stealing mine or any other breeder/pet owners photos. These losers cut off the water mark on a pic of Elvis. I have found angry faces work the best on all their photos. They cannot delete angry emojis even after they ban you, it makes people think twice before sending them $$. I have had people reach out several times and say the angry faces stopped them from getting scammed. So anyone feeling like blasting this scamming turd feel free! Here is the link to his page...

Not my post

This is why I take being accused as a Greeder so seriously from anyone and everyone. No ethical breeder in their right mind would ever do this unless they want to face penalties. And as FHA states: This is probably taken in a country where animals rights don't exist. Most of the 7 Continents have Animal Rights Laws. It's the countries and towns in said continents in the East(mostly) where these unethical practices can continue.

And Rescues need to grow up and stop this war on Breeders and look at the facts. And the people who work in it and run these rescues. If they can remember that (unethical)[Greeder]Breeders are not the *only* factor into why there are so many avians needing to be rescued. Not to mention some Breeders are multi-purpose avian caretakers: We also Rescue, we also Foster, we also take in Surrenders, and we also advocate for the well-being and rights of animals. So like, can you leave us alone?

~ Rant Over, I'll see if I can post something positive today ~

This photo is absolutely infuriating. But you know what is just as frustrating? The person that added the inflammatory wording to the disgusting photo and the rescue that posted it. This photo was almost guaranteed taken outside of the USA in a 3rd world country. While that doesn't excuse the horrendous condition of these poor birds, there are literally no regulations and animals have zero rights in those places.

This rescue and the person who added the words are playing on people's emotions and are 100% wrong to accuse all breeders of being selfish animal t*rturers. I don't know any breeder what would do anything even remotely close to what this picture depicts. There are a lot of crappy animal resellers and some very bad breeders, I'm not blind to this. But the majority of us love our animals dearly and this photo makes us as sick as anyone else. For this rescue to use an abusive extremist photo to paint their narrative is irresponsible. This is just another example of the fake news and misinformation that is being spread and eaten up by the gullible. Another example of why there is such a divide between breeders and rescues. If we're ever going to start working together this dangerous rhetoric needs to stop.

You know those videos online of people's budgies being way too h***y with like, a hand or shoe or leg or anything their little peets can balance on?

Yeah two of my untamed males turned tamed and one of them wanted to mate my hand— he didn't do the act. But damn he was close.

They aren't even 1 year old yet 😭
