Euthanasia is a momentous decision. When we discover that we need to euthanize a beloved pet due to disease, age-related issues or as the result of an accident, we begin to grieve. This is anticipatory grief. It is the natural reaction that occurs before the loss of a beloved pet. In that awful 'in between' time you will be anxious and fearful as you deal with what is to come. You may also experience:
• sorrow
• depression
• anger
• dread
• worry
• fear
• guilt
• confusion
• indecision
• feeling isolated and forgetful.

Visit our free anticipatory grief chatroom on Thursday, March 2, 8:00 - 9:30 PM. Facilitated by trained pet loss specialists, you will be supported by people who truly understand. Join us here: https://www.aplb.org/chat-with-us/

This is so beautiful!

For all of you who have experienced the death of a beloved animal companion, OVC Trust is shining a light on how pet parent of all ages memorialize the human-animal bond. Memorializing is a wonderful way to ensure the love we shared lives on forever.

Call to action:

OVC Pet Trust is producing a video series on pet loss in 2025 that will explore various ways pet owners commemorate their pets. We are looking for individuals and families who are open to sharing their journey, their pet’s story, and how they are honoring them.

We are looking for participants located in Ontario, and who are willing to appear on camera.

Please email the OVC Pet Trust team if you’re interested in being part of this project: [email protected].

This project is being supported by the Banjo Fund, which was created through a generous donation in loving memory of a dog named Banjo.

This is a very cool project!
