Odette's K9 Solutions

Odette's K9 Solutions Result Driven - Real World Dog Training After many years of working in corporate settings, I moved away from the city and landed in the Mount Forest area.

In 2014, I started Odette’s K9 Solutions. It came from a lifelong of passion, of working with people and dogs. My purpose was to create a training program that was simple, effective and result driven. Sharing my; knowledge, insight and tools, to create a stronger understanding of their needs and how to communicate effectively. I'm always thinking outside the box to do what’s best with each unique

situation and to get the desired results. I'll help educate and guide you through the process of training you and your four legged friend.

Hey everyone, I regularly hear clients discuss how they struggle with their dogs excitement when people come to the door. This is one of many examples but a popular one. Family members forget or refuse to stop coming in, getting the dog excited and teaching the dog that people coming in the door represent EXCITEMENT!

I know you all know this but I'm going to mention it again. The importance of consistency while training your dog can’t be emphasized enough. Make sure you’re enforcing good behavior in everyday, seemingly insignificant situations.

The idea is that if you neglect to address and correct minor misbehaviors or lapses in training during the “small”, routine moments, you shouldn't be surprised if your dog fails to exhibit good behavior in more significant or challenging “big” situations.

The way your dog behaves in the “big” situations is directly linked to their overall behavior, which is shaped by your consistent expectations and standards in everyday situations. If you only focus on correcting behavior in major instances and overlook the day-to-day interactions, your dog may not have the necessary training and discipline to respond appropriately when faced with larger challenges.

It’s not reasonable or sensible to expect a dog to behave well in “big” moments, if they are still struggling in the "small" area's.

Keep it Simple!

Can't believe we were able to work outside without freezing for our drop in class. This was literally a last minute decision and it worked great!

Here's a little clip. We had some serious dogs, some happy-go-luck, a puppy and an alumni. The dogs were working on impulse control and the pet parents on advocating for their dogs. They did a fantastic job!

Rewards of Solid and Consistent Training!

Our board and train and private clients are truly living the best lives with their dogs. Their dedication to the training process is amazing.

From: out of control, explosive, lunging at all sorts of things; to calm, neutral and well mannered.

They’re now able to go everywhere and reap the benefits of solid and consistent training. With their new skill sets the world is at their paw-tips and the pet parents fingertips. Many of these dogs have not experienced freedoms like this before and this is only the start!

Training is the kindest thing you could ever do for yourself and your dog. Teaching them what’s right and wrong is not only the fair thing to do but it’s necessary for a dog to live a fulfilled life.

If you want these same freedoms with your dog reach out and we can help you make it happen!

It's not necessary for your dog to be friends with every other dog. Just like people, dogs have different personalities, temperaments, and preferences. While some dogs are social and enjoy making new friends, others may be more reserved or even prefer to be alone.

It's essential to Understand and Respect your dog's individual temperament and comfort level with other dogs. Some dogs may be more selective and that's perfectly normal. Forcing a dog to interact with every other dog can lead to stress, anxiety, or even aggression.

Advocate for Your dog, the one in front of you.

Yes, socialization is important for dogs, but it doesn't mean they have to be friends with every dog they encounter. What's crucial is that your dog learns to behave appropriately around other dogs and people, and that they feel comfortable and secure in various social situations.

If you're unsure about your dog's socialization needs, it's always a good idea to seek out help from a professional dog trainer who can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation.

Big Shout Out to tonight's participants. We had a great ‘mixed bag’ of things to work on and everyone did amazing. We ended up with 5 males (1 intact), this was by no means planned but I'm so proud of the progress made.
If the dogs could talk they'd say thanks for showing up for us!

Hello Odette from teenage Titan!

I’m a bit of a moody teenager but at least I’m happy to see mom and dad, I’m the only teenager in the house that is… :-)

I’m quiet now during the night and do much better on my walks. I don’t leap over my corner anymore and really enjoy finding new locations to use for my "Place" training. Although we're still working on it at home… since I’m a teenager LOL
This is my new new favourite rock!!
