Fostered in Burlington

Meet Caleb! This sweet 12lb, 8 year old male Terrier/Chihuahua mix from Louisiana is ready to be your loyal sidekick.

If you're looking for a laid-back companion, Caleb is your guy! He's fully house-trained and has settled into his foster home with ease, getting along famously with three other small dogs. At 8 years young, he's a wise and gentle soul with plenty of zest for life. Caleb loves to cuddle up with you to watch TV, read a book and he makes an excellent driving buddy! He loves outdoor adventures, exploring new smells, and taking leisurely strolls on his leash, he walks very nicely on a leash.. Caleb is a sun-lover who'll find the perfect spot to snooze in the warm rays.

This low-maintenance dog is happy to curl up on the couch or hit the great outdoors. He's friendly to everyone he meets, including children, and has even lived with an 8-year-old girl in his US foster home. Interestingly, he's not intimidated by squirrels or small critters, suggesting he might even get along with cats!

Caleb is a versatile kind of guy who would love a home with a fenced yard where he can roam around and roll in the grass. He would be equally happy in a Condo. He adores people and would love a household where someone is around most of the day but he is perfectly fine to stay at home while you are out. Caleb enjoys following you around as you work or complete tasks, showering you with love and affection without any signs of fear. It's clear he came from a loving home before ending up in a US shelter, where RTRC gave him the care he deserved.

If you're looking for a sweet-natured companion to fill your life with love and joy, please reach out to connect with Caleb's foster mom. Your new best friend is waiting for you!

Lexie | Chihuahua Mix | Female | 13 years | 12lbs. | Fostered in Toronto | Available

Lexie is an approximately 13 year old, female Chihuahua mix.

We’ve had lovable Lexie for two months now and have been able to witness her gentle, loving nature. Lexie is a sweet, laid-back little lady who loves to be near her person, especially if they’re massaging her neck and behind her ears.

We often find Lexie snuggled up with one of her foster sisters on a comfy pillow on the couch. After being on a well-balanced diet for two months, Lexie’s well on her way to getting her girlish figure back.

She is house trained and does all her business in the backyard. She loves exploring around in the backyard and sunbathing on the deck. She also enjoys short walks and is great on leash - she prefers to walk on the sidewalk as opposed to grass. On her walks, if she sees another dog, she will stop walking and wait until they pass before she continues on her walk. She doesn’t usually do her business on her walks so it would probably be best for her to have a fenced in yard.

She gets upset when her person goes out and she will howl even though other members of the family and other dogs are home, so apartment living would not work.

Lexie would do best in a house where her people either work from home or are retired. She also needs a quiet home with not a lot of people coming and going because she gets quite riled up when people come to the house and it takes her quite some time to calm herself down. Lexie loves to sleep in the bed with her person.

As soon as she gets tired which is usually in the late afternoon, she loves to perch herself on the back of the couch atop a thick, fuzzy blanket and will curl up into a little ball. Although she’s a little hard of hearing, she can always hear her foster dad getting everyone’s food ready and she’ll jump right off the couch, head for the kitchen where she’ll sit and wait patiently with her foster sisters for her dinner.

Lexie’s certainly not a night owl - at around 8:30 p.m. we’ll find her asleep under a blanket on our bed where she’ll remain until morning. Don’t get scared in the middle of the night if you hear what sounds like a door creaking open, it’s just Lexie snoring.

Lexie longs for a home of her own and someone to love her during her golden years.

Adoption Fee for Lexie: $325.00

Taylor | Rat Terrier Mix | Female | 1 year | 25lbs. | Fostered in Bowmanville | Available

Taylor is a spayed female, 1 year old rat terrier mix weighing approx. 25 lbs.

She has the prettiest, kindest eyes matched with beautiful black and white colouring.

Taylor has the sweetest personality and wants nothing more than to be loved. She is good with both dogs and cats; as we have no children that is unknown.

We suspect Taylor's early days were challenging as she can be shy and timid when meeting new people. She has made great progress with this and with some time, patience and love she will continue to improve. A quiet house with a fenced yard would be best.

Taylor is still working on house training and is improving nicely on a regular routine. A family member that is home during the day to continue her training would be great.

Taylor loves her walks, but equally loves curling up in a dog bed or alongside you on the couch. She has been left alone for short periods out of her crate without event. She settles and sleeps quietly at night.

Taylor has learned to sit, take treats gently, the stay and down are a work in progress. Given her wellness and eagerness to please, she will excel quickly.

If you are looking for a smart, kind and gentle dog look no further. Taylor is your girl. With some time, devotion and lots of love Taylor will be a faithful friend forever.

Adoption Fee for Taylor: $650.00

ADOPTION PENDING!

Noey | Cavalier King Charles Spaniel | Male | 4 years | 25lbs. | Fostered in Wallaceburg |

Hi. I'm Noey! They call me a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I am a four year old male, currently weighing 25lbs ... I am somewhat overweight so will need to be fed properly in order to get back into a healthy shape.

I recently came from a shelter in Texas as an owner surrendered me. I was lucky that RTRC picked me and saved me.

I love to jump up on the chair for cuddles with you and I will flip over for belly rubs and will sneak in some kisses.

When asked, I will sit on command, lay down and shake my paw. I have lots of energy to play as I love to play with balls and toys.

I am great at walking on leash and when other dogs bark at me, like the prince that I am, I keep walking and don't react. If we get tired of that, we can jump in the car and go for a ride. I am very well behaved in the car.

I am very good at going outside for p*e breaks. I am trained to paw at jingle bells on the back door, or give you a quick bark if you don’t hear to let you know I need to go out. Or if you don't have a fenced in yard, I am happy to go for walks on a leash a few times a day.

At night I love to sleep with you in bed; I am also crate trained. While you are away, you can keep me out or crate me. I am okay on my own for a while during the day, but really like it when you are home with me most of the time.

I would do well with older, dog savvy kids who want to play with me. When we get tired, we can curl up for cuddles and quick naps and belly rubs and kisses.

So if you are looking for a prince, here I am!

Adoption Fee for Noey: $650.00
