Missing horse:
Found near Durham 8/2nd conc last evening.
Anyone recognize her?
Maeby tried faking sick. A gamble that didn’t work out lol.
Baby season is much better than no baby season. 😁
Wishing a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our indispensable, tireless, and amazing office manager, Lisa. Lisa is the heart of our practice, and we are so lucky to have her.
Happy Birthday, Lisa! I know you'll be so mad about this post, but you'll forgive us eventually ;)
Wonder twin powers: activate!
Oct 15 - Oct 21 is Veterinary Technician Week.
Technicians, veterinary assistants, and reception/front desk staff… these are the people who keep our practice (and every practice) running day in and day out. These guys work tirelessly through long days (and nights), they bear freezing temperatures, keep our equipment (and us) safe, and support our clients and patients (*ahem* and vets) through highs and lows.
Without people like Lisa, Shevaughn, or Julie… we wouldn’t be the practice that we are today.
Thank you to all of our past and current
technicians, you are all so appreciated. ❤️
It always feels like the switch to cooler, windier weather leads to more accidents and cuts for our equine friends!
Don’t forget that we have first aid kits available for you to purchase and have on hand for these situations!
The smaller kit (“The Mini”) has your essentials for wound care/bandaging as well as a thermometer. ($45)
The larger kit (“The Clydesdale”) is more comprehensive and includes other helpful tools such as a stethoscope, electrolytes, poultice pads and more. ($125)
Both kits include a helpful brochure on how to use the individual components, as well as information on bandaging, and what the normal vital signs (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate) are for your horse.

What to do when a tooth is too rotton or broken up to pull out of the socket with normal molar forceps: Buccotomy
We are looking to hire a new veterinary assistant!
Hoping to hire someone who is wanting to pursue a career in veterinary medicine, and who would like to be part of an amazing team. A go-getter attitude, horse experience, and flexibility is an asset ❤️
Little donk castration! ✂️🥜
His wee nards were smaller than his poo balls, lol.
He was a perfect boy and recovered really well 🙂
Perks of the job 🐣
Cheek tooth extraction day 🦷🐴
It’s… a process 😮💨 and you have to have a lot of equipment for whatever challenges might pop up! 💪
We know that veterinary costs can be unexpected. We also know that you want to do the best for your horse, but may need to spread out payments for routine care.
We are so excited to announce that we are working with LendCare, a veterinary financing company for any clients who need that support. Please contact us if you have any questions!
Ever wonder how horse mamas encourage their newborns to get up?
Keep trying, little missy. You’ll get it! 👊
That feeling when your mama needed some good drugs to help get your big butt delivered out of her, and you got a hit through the umbilical blood supply!
Note: baby is totally fine, happy, healthy and nursing. Just needed a little longer to wake up after being born ;)
Another excited and very attentive new mama!
This horse has the most fantastic moustache we have seen in a while!
Oh, friends of Allossery Equine, don't be so glum,
Despite today being chilly, frosty and numb!
Please listen close, and take care, do heed,
For the comfort of your horses is what we need!
Wrap them up warm, like a big winter quilt,
And make sure their water's not frozen and still.
For when it's cold, horses can suffer and ache,
And colic and constipation they will not fake!
So keep them snug, and keep them warmed,
And their water clear, so they won't be harmed.
For a horse that's comfortable, is a happy one,
And a happy horse, is a joy for everyone!
So don't fret, just follow these steps,
And your horses will be warm, and healthy, no need for any more peps!
And when the day is done, and the night is near,
You'll know you did your best, and there's nothing to fear!
Brrrr! A reminder to all of you that the weather is going to give us a bit of a rollercoaster this week.
Horses seem to colic more frequently when the weather decides to play Jekyll and Hyde, so keep those ponies warm and hydrated as we weather the weekend!
Please make sure that your water heaters are working and that all of your horses have access to water during the cold snap. Adding some water to their feed can also help to maintain good hydration through Friday and Saturday.
First Aid Kits! 🚑 🩹
We have been working hard to put together first aid kits for our clients.
We have two sizes available for purchase.

We rate this nice boy’s castration recovery 10/10.
Bonus points for going right to his feed tub 😆
Wishing you all a happy holiday season. We hope you all get a chance to relax and celebrate with your loved ones! Cheers ❤

POV: You’re at your daughter’s riding lesson and a horse at the barn gets a bit of a tummy ache. Luckily there are a lot of helpers around! 😁
So gross. 🤢 So satisfying. 🫣 This is a nasolacrimal duct flush. When healthy, this duct normally drains tears from the surface of the eye and shoots it out a small hole in the nose. Try it for yourself: press on the inside corner of your eye and you will feel fluid in your nose. This duct is very long in horses and get get blocked with certain eye conditions. The green is from the fluorescein stain used to check for scratched or ulcers in the cornea of the eye.
