Looks like we’ve already been nominated for the best pet shop category for the CommunityVotes - Halifax event this year. I just want to thank everyone who thought of us to name us as a nominee. When voting starts (don’t worry we’ll remind you). If you could remember to give us a vote that would be great. We’ve had a big year this year with down sizing our space. But we feel like we’ve been able to bring you more of the products that every one loves. We’re also now planning to attend a few local markets given folks the option to come see us who may not be able to make it down to the cove. Again though. Amanda and I certainly want to thank everyone who’s been with us for the last 6 years. It’s been a truly wild ride :)

Needed to shout this out: Strawberry season in Nova Scotia is one of our favourite times. Even the dogs love strawberries and know when the container comes out of the fridge. This strawberry shortcake was one of the best ones I’ve had. The only issue was being forced to share it 🙄 (next time I’m getting two)

With the heatwave coming up this week please keep an eye out for signs of heat stroke. It can be very dangerous for our dogs to be outside for too long.

Summer is here and it is HOT! ☀ Know the signs of heat stroke and protect your pet from this emergency medical condition.
Signs of heat stroke include:

🌡Excessive panting
🌡Excessive drooling
🌡Difficulty breathing
🌡Vomiting
🌡Diarrhea, with or without blood
🌡Weakness
🌡Incoordination or stumbling
🌡Sudden collapse
🌡Seizures

Setting up just a few doors down this year. I finished up for the day walked out the door and did a full on awkward double take (which garnered me a few laughs from some passing ladies lol). It was much bigger in person. I’m going to take this as a good omen as we kick off another season tomorrow with our friends at Kismet Gifts and The Good Anchor!

Funny side story is I recognized Stanley from a local dog walker who has been walking him for years, so a model and famous!

We've been procrastinating on making this announcement. We have decided to move our retail shop.

You'll still find us at Fisherman's Cove but just a few doors down inside .ns We are excited to have our products showcased in this beautiful space. And don’t worry it’s pet friendly so you can still bring your furry friend shopping. You will find our collars and bandanas, treats from and Murphy's Munchies, as well as toys and supplies from , along with other fun pet products from our original vendors.

You will also find us at the on Saturday June 8 from 10am to 4pm! And stay tuned for even more market announcements.

Making this move gives us space to get back to our roots. We will focus on local markets, growing our Etsy shop, and fulfilling wholesale orders.

This summer, we will be releasing our new product line: Boujee Boo Apawthecary! Natural, handmade health care products created by a Registered Veterinary Technician!

Fisherman's Cove is near and dear to our hearts. It has always been a special place for us, we had our first date there 7 years ago! It was where we created and built our business, met new friends and greeted more pups than you could ever imagine. We are grateful for the opportunities we had but are ready to welcome even more folks to Hen and Goose while on this new adventure

This is your time to shine!! The 2025 calendar project is now underway and I'm looking for 12 little supermodels who are living their best lives with their disabilities 😊

Whether your dog…

✨ is a tripawd
✨ has a sweet set of wheels
✨ uses a halo or bumper collar
✨ has a prosthetic limb
✨ or has had to adapt after a mobility-altering surgery...

They should send in an application! Or, rather, you should send it in on their behalf 😉

If your pup is selected to be part of this calendar project, you'll get to book a full session for a fraction of the normal cost, we'll have a wonderful session where they get to show off their modelling skills, and you'll get to bring home a digital copy of the calendar image AND well as a copy of the calendar itself (coming out this fall)!

You also have the opportunity to purchase any other portraits you fall in love with, just like every Wet Nose client, and the product options range from big, beautiful wall portraits, to coffee table albums, to desk prints. You can every purchase a collection of digital images if that's what you prefer!

I can't wait to photograph all the calendar models this year - I just know they're going to be faaabulous 😍 And if your pup fits the bill, you should totally apply!!
