It has been a very busy first few days. I spent this week reviewing ALL of the safety procedures, and learning about what this hospital can do! Did you know they have an OXYGEN GENERATOR and they can make their own oxygen?! How cool is that? I also learned about fire safety. I learned that I am definitely not allowed to stick my hands in sharps buckets, and I was shown the first aid kit and how to report injuries. The best part of my week was finding THE SPRINKLE ROOM!! Today, we also pause to honor and remember those who have served and are currently serving, including the families of our own team members who have dedicated themselves to protecting our freedoms. 🕊️
We also extend our gratitude to the four-legged heroes who served alongside them, from service dogs on the front lines to animals who provided comfort and support.

As we are mid RVT Month in Alberta, we wanted to share this shout out for our very own oncology RVT, Tiffany. She has always been very clear about her passion for oncology and helping our veterinary cancer patients. She has been with us since day one and helped to build a very robust oncology department with the rest of the oncology team. Boreal Veterinary Centre is pleased to welcome our second Board Certified Surgeon, this will allow us to expand access to care and minimize wait times! Dr. Curtis Cathcart received his DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. He lead a small animal practice on the west coast until 2006, at which point he decided to pursue his interest in surgery.
Surgical internships in Texas and California led to a position as research associate at the University of Georgia studying canine
gait analysis and pain management. Dr. Cathcart then did his residency in small animal surgery at Metropolitan Veterinary
