FESTIVE FOODS: Cranberries are another festive food that can be offered to birds. Cranberries, a member of the heather family, are high in vitamins (including vitamins C , E, and K) and contain a variety of bioactive plant compounds and antioxidants, including quercetin, myricetin, ursolic acid, and proanthocyanidins (PACs). These plant compounds are associated with a variety of health benefits in humans. Although fresh cranberries have the best health benefits, some birds may avoid them due to their sharp and sour taste. If offering dried cranberries, use a natural, unsulfured, and unsweetened product or make your own at home in a dehydrator or oven!

We have some very exciting news! 🥳 Dr. Teresa Bousquet has just become Board Certified in Exotic Companion Mammal Practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners! 🥳 Join us in celebrating this huge accomplishment!

Becoming a board certified veterinary specialist takes dedication to pursuing continuing education, advancing clinical skills, and passing a comprehensive examination. In fact, Dr. Bousquet is now 1 of only 3 specialists in exotic companion mammal practice in Canada.

Tortoise x-rays 🐢

One useful way to take lateral radiographs on tortoises and turtles is to place them on top of a container. Although it may look silly, this is the best way to ensure they do not move or attempt to walk off the table! ✈️

We are very proud to be announcing the roll out of an exciting new option for our clients: RVT Wellness Appointments!

Harvest Pointe Animal Hospital takes pride in utilizing our Registered Veterinary Technologists in their full scope of practice. We are continuing this by offering further training that allows them to work closely with on site veterinarians by seeing routine wellness and vaccine appointments.

This has many benefits to both the clinic and our wonderful clients. When you see an RVT for your appointment you:
- Receive more one on one time to discuss things like weight management, behavior, or new puppy/kitten tips
- Have more flexibility with appointment times, including evenings and weekends
- Free up veterinarians so they have more time to see surgical, sick or emergency patients

We have sent out an email to clients with more information and booking guidelines, but please feel free to reach out with any questions or if you would like to book with one of our wonderful RVTs!
